Runway Lights and Darkness
In real life the lights can be very tricky to see, especially on downwind and base. It is also pretty tricky to land if there is not a lot of ambient light around (depth perception problems). I just about planted the plane into the ground on my first night training lesson.

FSX + BP=0 + nVidia GTX 480
*******, What are your REX settings? In particular, are you running the max resolution clouds?

Anyone using a GTX 480 with FSX (sp2)?
mry110 replied to McCrash's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcAnyone think it will be possible to run the 4012x4012 (?) REX clouds with the GTX 480, and have smooth frames?

trim ?
I REALLY wish someone would create a Force Feedback YOKE. I would pay some serious money for that.

Interesting EyeFinity review with FSX coverage
I am purely guessing with this response based on my research on multi-monitors (before I spend big bucks on the set up), but I think you need to play with the zoom and eyepoint commands.http://www.mutleyshangar.com/downloads/FSX...%20Pamphlet.pdfLook at the "Views" section.

Interesting EyeFinity review with FSX coverage
I am planning on running one of these eyefinity setups in the next few months (have to get past my IRS bill first :( ). It will be interesting to see how the 5890 or 5870 Eyefinity Version (2GB memory+6 displayport) will run a 3 monitor setup.

Citation X
As an aspiring cockpit builder, +1 to you. And I am going to purchse the Citation X 2.0 now. Seriously, how difficult would it be for that other company to add this stuff?

ATI's new Eyefinity tech
mry110 replied to Tabs's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcTwisted, I just want to get this straight before I spend a boat load of money. So if you have lets say 6 monitors, you can Eyefinity 3 of them together for the main virtual view, and run 3 monitors off a second card for gauges and such? If you can get decent FPS, this would be incredible (running an i7 975 with 1 ATi 5870 at the moment).

Altitude Maintainence and Trim Advice
Just to update everyone on my progress (if you care). One thing I failed to mention in my original post was that I did not know at the time I purchased my GoFlight trim wheel that I needed to purchase a housing for the panel. So I have been having to physically hold the panel up to turn the trim wheel (otherwise the trim wheel would scrape my desk, and the wife would not be pleased). The housing showed up yesterday. WOW, what a difference. If you don't have a trim wheel, I HIGHLY recommend the one from GoFlight (the one with the landing gear and flaps switch).I was able to consistantly stay within +/-100 ft of my desired altitude, and change speeds on my aircraft at the same time (this was with a freeware Cessna 206H). Also, it makes the Flight1 Mustang one of the easiest jets in the sim to fly. You will be amazed at how easy the trim wheel makes configuring your landings.

Altitude Maintainence and Trim Advice
Interesting that you made that comment about FSX versus reality. I just finished an online ground school course, and my difficulty in FSX is spooking me a little bit as far as moving on to flight training (that or I am just using it as an excuse because I am scared, lol). Thanks for the advice everyone. I would be awsome if someone were able to make a yoke that actually simulated that pressure relief that the trim provides.

Altitude Maintainence and Trim Advice
Anyone have good advice on how to maintain altitude (minus pressing the autopilot button)? The problem I am having is while I am attempting to trim the aircraft, as I try to release the pressure I am applying on the yoke (Saitek), my altitude maintainence gets a little jerky. Next thing I know I am 400 feet from my desired altitude. I purchased a trim wheel from GoFlight which has improved this process dramatically for me, but I am still not satisfied.

Nice surprise replacing AP in Carenado C182Q
I came up with one more question for you. When I fly at night, there are some rectangles that appear to be part of the main panel that "shine" through my Friendly Panel and GNS430W. I can see they line up with the original 182 equipment where the frequency numbers are displayed. Were you able to get rid of these rectangles? They make the GPS look discolored at night.

Nice surprise replacing AP in Carenado C182Q
Thank you for your help. I purchased all of the add ons last night, and got them working. One more question however. Does the 430 act as your COM1/NAV1 and your Bendix act as COM2/NAV2?

Nice surprise replacing AP in Carenado C182Q
Your panel is exactly what I am trying to do with my 182. Could you give me a list of the products I need to accomplish this? Also I bought the WX500 from realityXP. Could I drop that in the empty hole at the bottom? I am a newb at this, so please excuse the ignorance.

Real Garmin with FSX?
Is it two way? Can I change something on the 696 and have it happen in the simulator? I am really just looking for a way to control the GPS with knobs. The best solution appears to be the product from Elite simulations (a GNS430 module), but it does not support FSX yet.

Real Garmin with FSX?
I realize this is kind of an off the wall question, but is it possible to use a real Garmin 696 or 496 with FSX?

Major FSX performance issues - i7 build. Confused!
You are definitely correct on this. FSX doesn't use the other 4 hyperthread cores, thus only utilizing 50% of the CPU horsepower. Because of this fact, I just turn the hyperthreading off.

Major FSX performance issues - i7 build. Confused!
Just out of curiosity, is windowed the default setting? I have a setup even a step up from the orginal poster's powerful computer, and have always been a bit disappointed by my FPS even with Nick's tweaks.
