August 18, 201015 yr Hi all,This has been asked before and i have read some of the topics relating to this and even tried a few things but am rapidly getting frustrated with FSX.I was completing a night flight to EGJJ last night (in fsx :() and on approach to EGJJ i couldt seen the runway at all not even a hint, so im starting to question whether my instruments are correct, anyway before i knew it i was over flying the field, because the runway lights didnt how up.after messing up the appraoch i slammed the plane on to the runway just to get it landed and even then the lights werent overly amazing.A thread on here suggested changing the scalar of the lights, i have had a play with this but to no success, i have REX 2 and have tried changing this too, but again no success.I have Bojote modified enb bloom files (think this also relates to the shader mod) cold it be this??Any suggestions on making things brighter?Picture attached.ThanksTom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722

Try hitting Shift-F12 in the sim to disable the bloom mod (and use the same keys to enable again). August 18, 201015 yr Author well ive had improvement in terms of the level of darkness, but im not convinced that the lighting is brighter, hmm will have to keep tweaking. I suppose the fact the darkness isnt so dark allows me to pick out the airport more easily, but i would have thought that runway lights are particularly bright in the real world.Tom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
August 18, 201015 yr i would have thought that runway lights are particularly bright in the real world. It depends on the airport. There are "low", "medium", and "high" intensities for the runway edge lights in FSX. You can load an airport into a program like Airport Design Editor and find out the current setting and change it. Airport information on the internet (airnav.com) will provide information on the actual airport edge light intensity. Art
August 18, 201015 yr This is what Birmingham looks like on mine Tom. Incidentally you said EGJJ in your OP I'm assuming you meant EGBB And I'm not using any bloom mods Regards Mike Martin

It is also pretty tricky to land if there is not a lot of ambient light around (depth perception problems). I just about planted the plane into the ground on my first night training lesson.
August 20, 201015 yr Author Thanks all for commenting on this, i have taken out the ENB bloom having decided this makes things too dark.i am going to play around with the lighting settings a bit more and see what i can come up with, i looked on youtube and the runway lights arent as bright as id had in mind so i think its just my poor piloting skills.@frimm, i did mean egjj, but my route is egbb to egjj and back, although the issue happens all over.ThanksTom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
August 20, 201015 yr Turn on the landing lights, they actually do something with the bloom mod enabled Paul Gluck.
