How to get wing views in Ovewrland models?

Featured Replies

Hello Gang!I see in several different places in the web that the Overland models have a wing view model in FSX but I cannot figure out how to get these wing views. Whenever I select the non-VC model in FSX I don't get the VC but I don't get wing views either. Any ideas?Than ks in advance!Dennis

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

You have to make use of the camera views available in FSX to get those views. More and more aircraft creators are providing those views ready to go. The parameters of the camera views allow you to change length, height, more left of center or more right of center, angles and percentage of view as in 100% or 90% or 80% etc. I thought the FSX version of the Overland planes already comes with camera views. I just tweaked them to my liking. I also use the HotKeys which very few people seem to know about, but they make it easier to assign the views to keys and joystick buttons for easy access. These camera views are in a section of the aircraft.cfg. Here for example are the views I use for the Overland A320:[CameraDefinition.001]Title = "Landing View"Guid = {51BA9D38-560E-4bea-B303-F7A9C9632CCE}Description = View for approachingOrigin = Virtual CockpitSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.7ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = 0, 0, 0InitialPbh = 14, 0.1, -0.1XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=CockpitMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=MinimumHotKeySelect=9[CameraDefinition.002]Title = "Right Side Economy"Guid = {54F54B8A-3EC2-2D4E-8D10-B8F9D0F16ACC}Description = View of the right wing from the passenger cabinOrigin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.90ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = 1.0, 0.0, 0InitialPbh = 5, 0, 100XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=MinimumHotKeySelect=8[CameraDefinition.003]Title = "Left Side Economy"Guid = {0ae3f864-da10-4e5a-977c-b9bba47d6f7a}Description = View of the left wing from the passenger cabinOrigin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.90ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = -1.0, 0.0, 0InitialPbh = 5, 0, 260XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=MinimumHotKeySelect=7[CameraDefinition.004]Title = "Right Side First"Guid = {3D3A6085-593F-4121-A72C-27A9E9E99304}Description = View of the right wing from the passenger cabinOrigin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.8ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = 1.0, 0.0, 13.25InitialPbh = 13, 0, 131XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=MinimumHotKeySelect=6[CameraDefinition.005]Title = "Left Side First"Guid = {24083047-8143-48a6-9B4B-7BF3C16C4D37}Description = View of the left wing from the passenger cabinOrigin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.8ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = -1.0, 0.0, 13.25InitialPbh = 13, 0, 229XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=MinimumHotKeySelect=5[CameraDefinition.006]Title = "Taxing Camera"Guid = {D38F642E-1EE0-4f12-949C-6200FE501046}Description = View of the top of the tail wingOrigin = CenterSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FALSEPanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FALSETrack = NoneShowAxis = FALSEAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.7ShowWeather = YesInitialXyz = 0, 9.8, -19.5InitialPbh = 18, 0, 0XyzAdjust = TRUECategory=AircraftMomentumEffect=TRUEClipMode=Minimum

What you are calling "wing views" are actually the VC model! If you have loaded the "non-VC model" then of course you won't see any "wings" because there's nothing TO see! :( FSX does not support "static 2d images" for use in the 2d panel like FS9 does. :(
