Got new hardware and wan't opinion on my plans

Featured Replies

I have just bought a new system on tradera (eBay) since I could get it cheap. The parts areMobo MSI KA780G , CPU AMD 64 X2 6000+ , 4 Gb RAM DDR2 800 Mhz , Albatron 8800GT 512mb PCI-Ewith this I intend to build a system dedicated to FS9 and FSX and other demanding gamesI already have a computer consisting ofMobo Asus A8V deluxe S939 AGP , CPU AMD 64 4000+ , 2 Gb DDR 400 MHz , XFX 7950GT AGP 512M DDR3WD Raptor 150 Gb 10000 rpm SATAI , Seagate 250 Gb 7200 rpm IDE and two optical units driven by a Corsair 520W modular PSU , OS Win XP HomeI now plan to remove the 7950GT and the Raptor drive and see if I can sell them. For my old system I got a 6600GT 256M DDR3 videocard. This would be my main working computer for office work and less demanding games. Then I thought of buying a 500 Gb 7200.12 seagate SATAII HD. This since I consider 150 Gb to be to little for both FS9 and FSX and more games. Then I also intend to use my current corsair PSU in the new rig and buy a less powerfull PSU to put in my old system. There is an cheap case with builtin 400W PSU.In the new rig I plan to use the Windows 7 RC as OS. Doing so I can use all 4 Gb RAM and open and the possibility to use WideFS.What do you think of the plan?

Sounds like a nice set up to me!Although personally, i would plump for the new nVidia GTX cards.

Should be fine for FS9, but I have a similar CPU and don't expect great performance with FSX.
