May 31, 200917 yr I have UT2, MTX and TrafficX, and from a personal perspective each has its own positive and negative aspects:MTX for me is good generally as it offers biz jets and military in addition to the expected assortment of airlines. In my own experience I find that MTX populates well in North America but is somewhat lacking in European flights. It also requires a long time in creating flights/schedules etc via the Traffic Editor.TrafficX was my next purchase and again oferred rotorcraft, gliders, military but without performing a great array of modifications was really annoying as it populated airports with erroneous airlines. You would be in Salt Lake City parked next to 3 KLM CityHoppers and a Bangladesh Airlines Fokker 70(must have taken 3 weeks to get there from Bangladesh!) Traffic2005 also had a multi accent English voicepack rather than all north American accents. Now I have installed UT2. This is the most realistic programme from the accuracy of flights perspective but doesn't (yet) have military. So I decided to see if I could mix n match features from all 3 progs into something i wanted:Multi voice/accent ATCGliders, helicopters, ultratrikes, military plus airlines and bizjets and as much accuracy as I could manipulate.I have ended up with all 3 progs installed to variying degrees.UT2 full install and setting in UT2 of 70% airlines 100% VFR remembering that the setting in FSX has no afffect on the UT2 setting it now allows me to use FSX traffic settings for the MTX and trafficX progs.MTX full default install but did NOT run the Traffic Editor to create full blown additional features/flights etc.TrafficX... went to the Traffic Control Centre in TraffX and only ticked VFR Armed Forces flights worldwide. NO airlines.Put the .gvp ATC voicefiles from Traffic2005 into the FSX Sound/ATC folder.FSX traffic settings are 10% for airlines(this activates afew additional airliners from MTX to mix with the airlines of UT2) and 100% for VFR ( note VFR in FSX settings, now only consists of military from TraffX and VFR from MTX.Result ?? Well I now have a truer and more realistic AI experience giving me accurate airlines at correct airports, I can have non US accent in addition to regular ATC voices, military bases with military planes, and gliders and helicoptors. I have UT2 as the default AI prog and can enable/disable the other 2 progs via the Scenery Library in FSX.The FSX.cfg entries should look like this: [Main]User Objects=Airplane, HelicopterSimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\AirplanesSimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\RotorcraftSimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehiclesSimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\BoatsSimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\AnimalsSimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\MiscSimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\UT2 AircraftSimObjectPaths.7=MyTraffic\AircraftSimObjectPaths.8=SimObjects\TrafficXPLEASE NOTE you may have to enter or correct the SimObjectsPaths number manually to the next sequential number as I noted at first 2 entries were made for SimObjectPaths.7 so had to modify to SimObjectPaths.8 I hope that the above may be of some interest.
May 31, 200917 yr That is interesting. I also get the strong impression that you have more spending money than I do, what with purchasing all of those AI add-ons. It's not terribly difficult to mess around with the traffic.bgl files to mix and match your aircraft. I tried some rudimentary reprogramming on my own after reviewing one of the AI products for AVSIM. I will pass on the same warning that I got from the developer, that fooling around with the traffic files may result in some unpredictable behavior, especially for AI programs that auto-update themselves. Okay, it's not that scary of a warning, but I do throw that out there.Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

I must have reinstalled Vista & FSX a couple of dozen times since they came out and always the problem has been something to do with FSX! BUT... i love it !!Regarding auto updates, I am not aware that the 3 programmes install updates without asking the user, I could be wrong.I am not actually touching any Traffic.bgl. MTX adds a line in the fsx.cfg that reads from the MTX files not from Scenery\world\scenery. Only the default FSX traffic and/or TrafficX bgl resides in that folder, the other 2, UT2 & MTX are outside of the traffic.bgl.I have only basically used various programme installation options on all 3 progs so no down and dirty getting into bgl data altering etc. Purely a novices non technical use of safe "options".Your point though is well taken and I guess in a public forum one has to err on the side of caution when imparting info that others may try but could cause a problem in their system, but to be honest I dont see a great threat here as it is not reprogramming persay just utilising vedor offrered options in three programmes. Apoint of interest is that the use of all 3 progs (please note that due to severely limiting the requirements from MTX and TrafficX, 10% airlines and 100%military makes these files very small, TrafficX flight plans is 3.5 mb !) has had no impact on my system performence. I am one of the lucky ones for whom FPS Limiter has turned out to be the Golden WD40 let alone Silver Bullet, so a steady 20-25smooth fps at airports followed by 30fps when out of the airport area.Regarding my apparrent exceess of funds, well those were the good old days before October last year, so I have been saving my pennies in order to buy these... well maybe not !!!!!!
