May 31, 200917 yr Greetings all,I recently purchased the MD-11 for FSX, and in addition to learning about this plane I've also been trying to learn how to use the virtual cockpit. Until now, I've used the 2D cockpit for all my flying. The VC looks great, but one thing I've noticed is that some of the buttons are hard to read because of the viewing angle. For example, while sitting in the pilot's seat, the "system" button next to the AFT CAB packs knob is almost hidden, as is the "3/1 off" part of the "Smoke Elec/air" button". These aren't major issues, but being unfamiliar with the VC is this normal, or is there any way to tweak the settings in order to see the overhead panel from the other (right hand) side? Any VC tips would be appreciated. Many thanks,Ron Ron Priever
May 31, 200917 yr Hi Ron,the best tip you can get when flying in the VC is buy TrackIR. You can then move freely inside the cockpit, which not only helps to reach every button, but it also makes you feel like being there. Trust me, after using TrackIR, you will probably not want to use the 2D panels anymore. It
May 31, 200917 yr TrackIR is the best answer but you can also right-click anywhere in VC and choose other view-points within the VC from the resulting pop-up menu. I even use these other view-points with TrackIR, such as jumping to the co-pilot's seat for a better look out the starboard side window. Other view-points include the MCP, FMC, Overhead, pedestal, etc... Also, you can click on a device such as the FMC and get the 2d window for ease in editing. As a long-time 2d panel user myself, the major difficulty was just getting used to all the different VC view-points until it became second nature where to find them without having to think too hard about it. May 31, 200917 yr Just press "A" when in the Virtual Cockpit to change the view points. I love flying from the VC because it makes for such a realistic experience. Getting used is the only problem, but it's certainly worth the effort! Marius Petrascu
June 1, 200917 yr Another trick is Shift+O (Shift and key O for Oscar) at the same time.once you have done this and the mouse cursor has changed to a + sign, move the mouse around ;) Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator
