Md-80 engine trouble

Featured Replies

Hi thereFirstly I would say my problem lies with the Maddog 2008 engines in fs2004.I am aware there is a specific Maddog forum but as I am not a member over there I will try here first. My problem seems to be always with the left engine during the takeoff sequence. After a succesful engine startup of both engines and all systems running fine I taxi to my cleared runway and begin my takeoff roll but around rougly 80 knots the left engine completely shuts down and loses all power. No warning messages are given the engine just shuts down.I have followed a startup sequence from a video on youtube and also an improvised sequence and a simple ctrl-e.The problem is always the left engine regardless of wether i startup the left or right engine first the left engine is fine until the takeoff roll where it shuts down.Any help with this frustrating problem would be very much appreciated.Thank youRichy

She is very finicky indeed. You can't slam the throttle on her or she'll die on you.Prior to departure shift-ctrl-G to set T/OThrottle to 1.30 (IIRC) then hit the Auto throttle making sure your TO thrust is set also. There are a few Quick and Dirty guides that will give you the proper procedures.Cheers

I would just like to say a massive thank you to everybody here who helped me out.I decided to just do a "simple" first takeoff from KLAX but ended up flying all the way down to KSAN.The aircraft handled brilliantly and the engines stayed running the whole way through :( The help was very much appreciated and I will certianly be flying the Maddog a huge amount from now on.Thank you Richy

Amazing how satisfying it is just getting from point A to point B in a complex sim heh?Next you should try a Transatlantic in the SSTSIM Concorde.

She is very realistic.Definatley not a jump in and fly beast. The Q&D guide can be found here. Maddog Quick & Dirty GuideCheers
Remember this plane is tricky in real life. The auto sploilers do not always work so I deploy them myself when I land. The APU has to be reset some of the time. The engines don't start well all the time. What a plane. I only fly this bird when I am in the mood for a real flight and follow all the guidelines and procedures. Now if I can only fix my MD-11 from locking up.Carl Perry
