June 9, 200917 yr I never really paid any attention to the FSInsider Cessna 152 that Microsoft provided some time ago. The windows were "worn" and made visibility difficult. However, I dug it out and tried it again. Ignoring the nasty Plexiglas I found the interior to be "nice" and the flight model quite good in terms of feel and feedback (non-pilot). It has become my everyday aircraft. I have a perverse way of using aircraft in FSX. I imagine if I could afford what I fly. So I have only tried the Lear Jet once. The 152 (well used) is the best I could ever do. My question is - the Plexiglass need replacement. I have some virtual money, how can I do it? Or, in simple terms, is there a way to eliminate the well worn plexiglas in the FSInsider 152?While I am at it, setting aside visuals, does the Carenado 152 fly more relaitically than the FSInsider free one? regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
June 9, 200917 yr Not sure what you mean by worn looking, I have that aircraft and the glass seems pretty clear to me, with just a very slight colour to it. If you did want to increase the clarity of the glass, I assume it would simply be a case of making the alpha channel on whatever texture it uses a bit darker, since that would equate to making the texture more transparent. That is unless it is part of the model's polygon colour, in which case it would be tricky. It is essentially the same aircraft as the one you get in the Flying Club add-on, with just a different paint job. As with all those Flying Club aircraft, I think it's a pretty good approximation of how the real thing flies, since it was based on a real aircraft, although having said that, the way it uses fuel is a bit weird.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 10, 200917 yr While I am at it, setting aside visuals, does the Carenado 152 fly more relaitically than the FSInsider free one?The Carenado 152 is exceptionally well made... I had both 152s for a while, but the FSinsider model is parked and theCarenado 152 gets all the flying hours. The virtual cockpit is really well done and the plane flies great! Bert

Note the top half which looks like something dripped down the window. That is what I would like to remove. If I owned the plane it is one of the first new things I would do. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
June 10, 200917 yr Author I created the problem. I now see that I had blocked the reflections.dds file to eliminate the reflection of the checked seat cushion in the front windscreen. Restoring that removed the smudging on the side window. It returned the reflection and made the side window tinted to a green color. I think I can play with the BMP and fix that since the quick fix only made me look dumb - sorry. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
