June 10, 200916 yr Greetings all,I'm in the process of learning about the PMDG MD-11. Looks like an amazing plane. I've just finished the "Aircraft Systems" part of the manual. I still need to read about the FMS, then the FCOM and QRH before I can fly. (well, before I can fly and actually have an idea what I'm doing.....lol)I'm sure I'll have many many questions later on, but right now I have a few which weren't answered in the acft systems book:1) Where exactly is the ADG (Air driven generator) handle? I think I see it, but it doesnt seem to move or do anything.2) Where on the throttles is the ATS disconnect? I see the TO/GA button, but not the ATS one.3) In the Autoflight section, under "altitude alert", it says "If more than 0.12g is required to capture FCP window altitude........" What exactly does the "0.12g" mean? Many Thanks,Ron Priever Ron Priever

On the left side of the left throttlehandle (#1 engine throttle) there's a round knob, same color as the throttles. You can operate it with your thumb in real life.3: Dunno...'g' as in g-force? I found the ADG (I had to move the FO seat in order to find it....and I was also able to lift the handle), and the ATS disconnect (I was looking for it on the top of the throttle, not the bottom). As far as the "g", you're right...it probably has something to do with g-forces. Either that, or something to do with transporting contraband. :( Ron Priever
June 11, 200916 yr Commercial Member Ron,if you had to move the FO seat to find the lever then you did not find the ADG release lever but instead the alternate gear extension handle for nose- and main gear. The ADG release is located at the most aft posiiton of the centre pedestal, mounted on its side wall facing the jump seat. It's RED without any cover, you can't miss it...Markus Markus Burkhard
June 12, 200916 yr Whenever you change your pitch, the lifting force changes and the plane accelerates in the vertical axis. It is useful to measure this acceleration as g-force, or g-load. The harder you pull back, the higher the positive g-load before the plane stabilizes in the climb. The .12g means that the alert is triggered if the plane needs to pitch up with an acceleration of 1.12g, and down with an acceleration of .88g.Clear as mud?Paul
June 12, 200916 yr Aslo...if you need to pull the ADG handle, pull it twice! :) I forgot to do that end crashed my MD-11 due to the lack of electric & hydraulics :( Eric [FSX on Windows7 64-bit]
