Carenado C152 - Gauges Quality?

Featured Replies

Excluding the other interior elements, clarity and smoothness of gauges, is for me sort of important. I will spend most of my "flight" time with the C-152 (if I choose to buy it) in the cockpit. This means that the gauges will, and should, be a primary focus. While the default ones are ok I understand that RealAir has some of the best. How do Carenado's stack up to them?

The gauges in the Carenado 152 are excellent, clear and smooth, way better than the default.

I think it's apples and oranges. Carenado gauges, though clear and smooth, look more like cut out bitmaps, so to speak (and I can't think of a better word to describe it). Real Air gauges have a clean, 3D look about them which is different, and which magnifies better when you zoom in (almost like a vector image and not a bitmap). It all boils down to taste, and I like both approaches. It's like comparing the old PSS 757 2D panel (one of the best ever IMHO) with the equivalent from Captain Sim.

The enlarged photo certainly shows-off the high quality. Perhaps Real Air went one step further and rendered the glass covers. Since I prefer a simple aircraft the 152 will probably get "PayPal"ed.EDIT ======================Need to amend the above stuff. I have decided against the product since there is no PayPal between me and the servicing bank which is in Chile (TransBank). I have no recourse if something goes wrong with the transaction or an "event" occurs with my card.

My anxiety overcame my paranoia. So I bought the C-152. Just after the purchase I canceled my cards and and reordered new ones with a new number. Planned to do that for other reasons anyhow. The C-152 is indeed visually well done except for the green tint on the windows. Contacted Carenado and the next day I had a file to "un-tint" the windows. My only criticism so far is the engine sound. I think it is too harsh and sounds "thin". I will probably use the FSInsider sound for the engine. A radio with NAV and an ADF plus a compass what else do you need? After all it is a c-152. Need to practice emergency landings on an interstate!
