FS9 graphic stutters

Featured Replies

Hi,I have been having a problem that I hope someone can help me solve. I get good frame rate while flying but every once in a while the frame rate goes to a slide show. The sim itself doesn't seem to stutter, just the graphics. It seems worse if I have just changed direction but is not limited to that. It also looks like I get harddrive hits when it happens. I have tried putting FS in its own partion both on the main drive and a separate drive. Even tried a new SSD but it didn't help.Any ideas? My System:ASROCK 929 Dual-VSTAAthlon64 3800+X22G RAM PC3200 (512M x4)ATI Radeon 3870 512M PCI-EOlder Creative SB16 Sound Card

Hello,Dunno if it's your first tease with FS2004 ....Anyways .. if you have a antivirus running (realtime scanning) or any intrusive software (who for any reason scan files) disable it (for a antivirus it's sometime a option for snooze the realtime scanning) and check if any improvments ...Regards.bye.gifGus.

Also, depending on your add-ons...if you are flying into scenery with dense add-ons, the sim will have to pause for a moment (stutter) to load it into memory. This is alteast what happens with my system. Can't really be avoided.

The stuttering can sometimes be lessened or removed completely by adjustment to the fs9.cfg file. My best advice is search "Nick_N" on this forum. There is a lot of useful info there to be sure, including system optimizing and best fs9.cfg settings. It is well worth the time to read the stuff ( lots of stuff )! I hope this point you in the right direction. The bottom line,....had stutters at texture load up, still do but they are barely perceivable and I do mean barely.Best regards,Mel

If you fly into areas with dense AI, there will be a lot of stuttering as the AI is loaded into memory (along with a lot of HD activity). I don't think this can be avoided (other than turning down AI).Bryn.

My top fixes for FS performance:-Set Virtual mem to "let system manage"- (System Properties/ Advanced/Performance-Settings/Advanced-Virtual Memory: click on "System Managed Size".)-In FS Assignments, assign "Refresh Scenery" to the Pause/Break key. Hit this key when you detect an FPS slowing- typically as you enter an area of increasing scenery density. System will pause momentarily, then resume at full blast!-Have lots of RAM- preferably the full 2 GB.These settings allow me to run triple monitors very smoothly on a six year old 'puter!Alex Reid
