Where can I get FU3 files?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I decided to dust off my copy of FU3 after a 4-5 year break. I was wondering where I can find Chris Low's Seattle scenery-- I noticed that avsim's library is offline. PS- I tried installing the FU2 region, but each time the game begins to load the exterior regions the game crashes suddenly. I had to reinstall with the Seattle region only. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

You have a personal message, delta_tz.The above post has persuaded me to open a FileFront account. I will upload the latest versions of Seattle 2006 and SanFran 2006 very soon, and then provide links to them here. It is important to note that the latest version of Seattle 2006 includes a modified version of the geotiles.tag file. That is because I flattened the terrain at Coupeville NOLF, and then converted it into a tower controlled airport (part civilian, part military).

Thanks Chris,I recently installed your Seattle 2005 pack to complement the San Fran pack I installed some time ago.It looks superb and is a step up from the individual add-ons I had in Seattle area before. I was recently forced to re-install the clean version of the sim, which prompted the change.Regards to all. :(

Thanks Christopher! Your brilliant mods have certainly pumped a few more years of life into FU3. Great job!Last time I was checking the FU3 forums regularly (quite a few years ago), people were just starting to figure out how to add new satellite data scenery into FU3. I was wondering if there has been any progress in that department......I remember someone adding a UK region off the northern coast of seattle, but I aslo remember that being a real pain to install. I thought it'd be a good idea to try and create satellite data for the area between San Fran and Seattle, so travelling between the two will be somewhat seamless. How difficult would a project like this be?Thanks-Tom Z

You're not alone... Clean FU3 with SanFran region works well enough for me but when I recently tried flying from outer/Seattle into Chris's newly-installed SanFran upgrade the sim would freeze during the scenery load at the point where it started to work on the AI. Is that what you meant? I recall it happening in another situation (not Chris's upgrade) a year or so ago. It might have been to do with an outer airport modification (or that could be a red herring) but to be honest I simply can't remember what caused it, nor even if I ever found the cause.I did notice that some parking spots in the upgraded airports, 'Baron...' I think, but I'm at work at the moment, weren't recognised by my version of FU3/2 and I had to change them to 'Windhawk...'. I reverted in the end to a back-up of my ../Flight3/ folder to get on with some other stuff.Finding the cause is on my list of 'things to do: urgent' so sometime in the next six months...!

As far as I can recall, I only used the "Windhawk" AI parking spots when upgrading the SanFran and Seattle region airports.....I never used the outer terrain scenery in FU3. It was far too crude and "generic" for my tastes. I preferred to concentrate on the two high resolution regions, and make them as interesting and detailed as possible.
