Asus P6T Deluxe V2 MB Sound Question?

Featured Replies

On my present system I have a "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS" sound card installed, and it finally is working great with the latest Creative software.Monday I should receive my hardware for a "Core i7" upgrade. If anyone is interested, the content is listed on this forum in the post titled: "Upgrade".Included will be an "Asus P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel" Motherboard. My question is: Has anyone made a similar upgrade and used the : "Onboard Audio" with the "8 channels / ADI AD2000B" Audio chipset? Since my last upgrade I have wondered if onboard sound has migrated to be better than my Creative card without taxing resources too much for the upgraded system in question.I am not a sound purest with old "retarded ears" as my wife says. FS is my key use for sound, along with a little elevator music occasionally, and listening to sports on ESPN.360 and a few other such sites. What I have sounds fine to me, but I would be interested to hear anyone's advice concerning any other affect. Thanks:RTH

The newer boards sound quality have improved much over the past 4 years. I would recommend using onboard sound

In reading further down Nick gives the correct answer to your question...but....that board is hit and miss with sound problems...see Asus M/B Forum. I use my on-board for Skype only and a sound card for FSX. Many people had no issues at all with the on-board chipset used with that board but a few of us did. Your's may be just fine...just FYIO.

All sound is generated into a secondary buffer in windows and then mixed into the primary buffer and out to the soundcard, so hardware really doesn't have much to do with it. I have this particular board and i've had no issues with the chip that's on it, everything runs just fine. Now however when these chips first came out on the market they were kind of rushed and they had poor drivers at best, so while some peoples concerns maybe valid, i think most are outdated.
