Hi, I have a 22in wide screen at 1680x1050 pixels. I run FSX in that resolution. Would I get more FPS running a a lower res? I am running 2 EVGA 9800GTX in SLI mode. 8gb of ram and a Q9550 O/C to 3.0. Thanks for any input,Greg

I've just upgraded my monitor to a 24" WS and gone from 1152X864 to 1920X1200 and the difference in frame rate isn't noticeable at all on my ATI 4870, I must say I'm really impressed with FSX at that res, it makes VC panels in the likes of the PMDG MD11 look absolutely stunning. And FS9 has never looked so good, its like a new sim.

Hi Greg,Lowering the resolution won't give you any more fps and would make the display look far less crisp.In fact FSX cannot take advantage of SLI. You'll get comparable fps with a single 9800GTX.

A higher resolution means more pixels for your videocard to draw, which requires more video memory bandwidth and GPU horsepower. But FSX doesn't come anywhere near pushing a 9800GTX to its limits, let alone two of them in SLI. Performance in FSX is bound to the CPU speed. If anything, running two cards in SLI causes lower performance because of the extra CPU overhead.However don't forget the WideViewAspect=True fsx.cfg setting. This will give you a wider view angle more suitable for widescreen monitors. It will however cause more scenery, 3d objects, AI traffic etc. to be visible which might impact performance slightly.
