July 9, 200916 yr And what's with the 2???Scroll down a bit more...You are completely misunderstanding what "WinXP Compatibility Mode" is for...All I can see is "Run many existing Windows XP productivity applications in Windows XP Mode.". Not compatibility mode, XP mode. To me that certainly sounds like running XP programs in Windows 7. Not running pre-XP programs in Windows 7. And I'd say that is not exactly a small deal... I would very much like to run various programs in XP mode and I was under the impression that this was a Windows 7 feature, regardless of the version. Now, I full well understand some programs will run without the need for any "mode", but it would seem this feature is ideal to help make people switch from XP to Windows 7. It would certainly give me peace of mind, in other words, I would be hesitant to switch to a 7 version without the XP mode, whether I end up needing it or not.I think it's curious and mabe54 does have a point, although he needs to work on how he brings that point across... Perhaps it's a way for MS to earn more money and make people skip Home in favor of Pro or Ultimate? Or to make them buy Home (or get it pre-installed) and later an upgrade? Which version is gonna ship with HP and Dell computers? Home, I assume... Mike...
