Can the reviewer please clarify their comment on Carenado and turboprops. I am aware of none."if you like military aircraft in any way, the F/A-18E "Superbug" is a must-have, like the Level-D 767 is a must-have for airliner fans and Carenado is a legend for turboprop fans."

What I mean is that, from what I have seen, that carenado makes great turboprop aircraft. Maybe I got names mixed up, but for all I know "truboprop aircraft" is an aircraft with a propellor engine. Just about all aircraft by carenado are propellor driven, and thus they are turboprops. Does this clarify the statement?-Benjamin

Turboprops are jet engines driving a propellor like the C130, Twin Otter, Cessna Caravan etc. Carenado have only made piston engined propellor aircraft. Hope this explains the terminology.Frog

Ah, I see. However stupid it may sound, I actually didn't know that. Now I do. Thanks for bringing this to my attention...

An honest mistake Ben, and we all make them! ...... I noticed it too, I suppose the sad part is that people will often be drawn to the odd serious factual error in review and not acknowledge all the other good content! As above, a Turbo-prop is a jet engine that spins a propellor; the most common examples I'd give would be the Cessna Caravan, King Air, and Pilatus PC-12.Carenado don't make any turbo-prop aircraft, all of their aircraft are piston engined propeller aircraft.Good review other than that point though, good luck with the next. :)

Turboprop-smurboprop - they all have propellers LOLI thought that F/A-18 review was great Ben, very comprehensive.Al

Thanks guys! It helps to make future reviews, when people tell you previous reviews are good, so thanks again!Anyway, I did a small edit of the review. There are some other things that were brought to my attention, and I'm all collecting it in one word document. When I tested ou the last thing, I'll add that in to (or not, if nothing has changed) and send it off to Robert, to see if there is a possibility to add it into the review.

That's one of the best reviews I've ever read - thanks very much. I'm looking forward to your review of the FSX version.I have a suggestion, though. Why not include some screen shots of the aircraft in REAL markings, rather than the FICTIONAL Blue Angels with fictional loads. Since VRS has expended so much effort on creating this detailed replica of the real thing, it seems appropriate to include screen shots of more typically marked airplanes carrying those loads (or empty).Gene K

Yeah - originally, I indeed had screenshots of the plane in "actual" markings. But, and I have to stress that point, the paint you see in the review is the actual paint of the Blue Angels team. The coloring of the weapons probably is fictional, since the Blue Angels don't normally carry weapons, but I might be mistaken. The reason I stuck to the Blue Angels paint, was because I wanted uniformity. And, since I love blue, I stuck with that. I'm afraid that is something that won't be changed though. The edits I'm making and might be added into the review are very minor and purely textual, nothing fancy with more pictures and the like. So, thanks for the kind comments, and good thinking on part of the screenshots, but I fear it is something that is not going to be changed. As a matter of fact, let me stress that point: There is one more thing I want to verify, but that's it... beside that and two other points (one of which was a factual error, and the other is the turboprop thing), I'm not going to change any more things.

The Blue Angels fly F/A-18A legacy Hornets - the VRS model is the F/A-18E Super Hornet, a much different airplane in size, shape, and capability!Gene K

Aaah, so that's what he meant! Yeah, if you look at it that way, it's fictional.

When I first saw that you had reviewed yet another F-18, I was not impressed. I remember thinking, "Oh great, another lousy F-18 product that some para-military buff wrote a review for just to plug the all-military groups out there." Boy was I wrong!!! After being absorbed into your review and forced into the front seat of an F/A-18E, all I can say is wow! Based solely on that review, I must now go purchase this plane. I thought one of your opening statments about the price being too low was pure b/s, but at the end I'm certain you're correct. This is by far one of the best reviews I've ever read (and I've read ALOT). It was unbelievablly long, yet when I reached the end I was almost sad I did get to hear even more about the plane. You really put the spotlight on this aircraft and did a great job. I could sit here and rattle on even more raves about the review, but I fear I would diminish what I've already said. Simply put... This was a fantastic review and I thank you for taking the time to write it in such detail.-Doc-

Wow... After all the kind comments, after even a Boeing employee contacted me, this is probably the biggest compliment yet to be given to me about this review. I thank you a thousand times! I really appreciate these comments, I really do. Thanks again! I hope you'll find this aircraft to be as great as I thought it was, though I have no doubt you will, if you are into jetfighters. It's quite possibly one of the best aircraft around, maybe even to be made ever for FS.But something in your post makes me curious:"When I first saw that you had reviewed yet another F-18 [...]"This is the first time I wrote a review about a F-18. Maybe you were thinking of somebody else? As a matter of fact, this was only my second review for AVSIM.Anyway, thanks again for the kind words, they are greatly appreciated.

No, no, no... What I meant was yet another F-18 review. Not another review by you specificlly. I've read and/or seen 5 or 6 different F-18's for fs9 alone. Still, out of all the F-18s' this one's the best!-Doc-

Ah, okay. You said "you" in that sentance, so that's what made me wondering. Anyway, thanks again! :)
