June 30, 200916 yr Looks to me like everything is right apart from the textures need to be flipped (i.e. a mirror image of what they currently are), which is sometimes the case with texture files. Try either flipping them horizontally or vertically and see what happens.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Things are a lot different from the last time I did a repaint! Now that I'm into Air Hauler, I wanted something different from the shiny new PC-12 cargo model with the Mexican flag. I used to use Paint Shop Pro; Paint.net is a little different. The whole layer thing still has me baffled.
July 1, 200916 yr The way to get your head around layers is to think of them as tracing paper; i.e. you could draw on one sheet of paper and put a piece of tracing paper over what you drew (which is the equivalent of adding a layer in a paint program), and then you could draw something else on the overlaid tracing paper and you would be able to see both drawings. But to draw on the paper underneath once more, you would have to lift up your tracing paper; doing that is the equivalent of clicking on a lower layer in the layers palette in a paint program to make it the 'active' layer.Since only a few image formats support layering, before you can save your finished repaint in an image format suitable for FS, you have to 'flatten' the layers down into one entity so that it can be saved in a wider variety of formats, which you can do via the menus. If you get really stuck, PM me and I'll talk you through it in greater detail.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 1, 200916 yr Layered files (like PSD) can be saved in an image format suitable for FS f directly ,without flattening them first ,using Imagetool instead of DXTBmp.Leen de Jager

July 1, 200916 yr Author I used to use PSP, and you could deal with layers easily. With Paint.net I only seem to be able to handle one layer. Whenever I look for the other ones, I get one dialogue box that doesn't seem to have options to click through layers. With PSP, I seem to remember you could easily do that. Maybe I should just pick up PSP, unless I'm missing something with Paint.Net.As a miniatures painter, though, I'll always miss the satisfying brush lick to keep a shaped and moistened point.

July 1, 200916 yr Something is definitely amiss if the Paint.net layers palette is not letting you select various layers. About the only other thing it could possibly be, if something is not busted, is that the layers are not translucent; check that on the layers palette you are getting the 'chequered' pattern to indicate transparency with no bimapped white preventing the layers underneath from being seen. Try creating or duplicating layers to see what you get.Personally I use Photoshop, but I would certainly use Paint.net if I did not have PS. You can download a 30 day trial of PS CS4 from Adobe.com if you don't fancy getting you hand in your pocket, or seek out an older used copy of PS from somewhere, which may be a cheaper option, since PS is fairly pricey.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
