July 2, 200916 yr Hi Bryan,I just purchased FS2Crew for the PMDG 747 for FS9.I haven't flown the tutorial flight as yet as I am still going through all the steps toward that flight one step at a time. It's what I do, just pick my way through. So far it looks like it could be a fun product to play with.In order for you to understand where I am going with this, I should tell you that I fly the PMDG 747 pretty much exclusively, and my base of operations is in Salt Lake City, UT. My operation is based on Charter and Contract type operations, that caters to Disaster relief, Humanitarian Aid, Military transport, etc. That being said, it is easy to understand, that I rarely have a set schedule or city pair that I fly on a regular basis, and some airports I fly into barely meet minimum requirements for a 747. Most flights are conducted within the United states, however some are long haul to where ever the news takes me.A couple of things came to mind as I was picking through, the first is the Airline and flight number. After reading through the posts, I see that the Airlines, Flight numbers, and Call signs are hard coded into your program. My question would be, wouldn't it be possible to incorporate some sort of Text to speach engine into the program, so that pilots can use their respective airlines during flights rather than what you have pre recorded? I have no problem with the Microsoft ATC as far as the call sign. The next question would be, wouldn't it make sense to use City Pairs input into the FMC using the IACO code? It seems as though if you could use data programed into the FMC during preflight, it would save having to input the date twice, once for FS2 and then again in the FMC, as well as having all the weights, temperatures, altitudes etc, available at the same time. The third question is, I use FSUIPC to program some of my joystick buttons which include APU Start and Shutdown, Gear up and down, and various lights. Having not gone all the way through your tutorial as yet, my question is how does FS2Crew interact with FSUIPC? Will FS2Crew negate or cause a conflict with switch commands programed through FSUIPC.Thanks for any information you can give me on these subjects.By the way, The Airline I fly is Sierra Pacific, and Flight Number is always SPA750, and call sign is always Sierra Pacific 750. This is a real airline, and they do pretty much the same type of flying I do, but they do not fly the 747. I used to be a flight/Line mechanic with them, so I know their operation but just for my own enjoyment I painted and set up the PMDG 747 in their color scheme. I also fly a 747-400 version of Air Force One from time to time, so the above questions would apply to that aircraft as well.ThanksJohn

We don't use text to speech. We could if we wanted. But the voices sound much too roboty for my tastes. Now users can buy some nice voices (like AT and Ts) but even those start to sound grating after a while.2. It would be nice, but we can't read data out of the FMC. No SDK is available for that.3. No known conflicts with FSUIPC.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
July 2, 200916 yr Hey Bryan,Thank you so much for answering so quickly.I find myself a tad disappointed with the limitations with the aforementioned issues. I guess if I had read the forums a little more thoroughly before purchasing I might have had a different outlook on making the purchase. I can see where I still can have some fun with the program, I will just have to contract to whichever airlines you have and use their call signs and fly their city pairs. This I do upon occassion so I won't be totally disappointed. Other than the issues mentioned, I find the program brilliantly done, and very realistic. I understand completely that when you are developing the program, you can not take into account everything that is out there especially when one flies irregular city pairs and a relatively unknown airline.Kudos to what I have seen so far.Thank you again.John
July 3, 200916 yr Im not really sure what your talking about, I don't own the 747 program yet but in the future I will be getting it, what do you mean you can only fly between certain city pairs and for certain airlines? I know that the program offers some departure briefings and Cruise announcements for certain Airports and Cities but you can use fs2crew for any flight. Its main purpose is to provide you with a crew and copilot, for running checklists and stuff. You can use it for any flight, I have the MD11 and just got the 767, and Im hooked.

No restrictions whatsoever. But for the PA announcements and airlines names, because it's impossible to record every city in the world and every airline, the list of available cities that can be used when making PA's, etc., is limited to just the largest cities in the world. Places a 747 would usually go.However, there is a 'generic option' in case the city or airline is not on the list.Don't worry, it's not an issue.Glad to hear you're hooked on FS2Crew for the MD-11 and 767.Wait till you see the next version of FS2Crew... it uses voice control.Best. July 3, 200916 yr My apologies,I was referring to the PA announcements. As far as flying to city pairs, and airlines, you can fly anywhere, anytime, with anything. I was just hoping for a way to customize it for my particular situation, which is quite different from almost all 747 operations. The program in itself is a mark of genius as far as doing what it is supposed to do, and highly recommended just from what I have seen so far. Just completed the tutorial flight and then a flight to Honolulu and it was very realistic.John

Just cycle the city's PA to the end for the generic announcement.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
