RC4.3 won't hold registration

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone else is having this problem. I recently had to reinstall everything from Vista on down. I've got everything back, but with RC4.3, I'v had to enter the registration 3 times already. For whatever reason, everything will be fine and then I'll load RC and all I get is the registration screen. So, of course, I have to contact John again for a new unlock code. It's getting tedious. I'm wondering if maybe I should load RC as administrator. Would this keep the program from losing the registration code. Any help would be appreciated.Mike

On VISTA RC4 generally needs to be run as administrator to write to its files especially if it is in a folder under "Program Files". You (as an admin) can create a shortcut to RC4 with a shortcut property to run it as an admin. Other users install the RC4 folder (and FS) directly under the drive letter such as C:\RCV4\. The key resides in your keyboard.dat file in the RC4 folder. You can check it with Notepad to see if the current key you are entering is in there. If not, then there is a security access problem. If it is in there and RC does not accept that key then you require a new key from jd. It is an automated request system. Be sure you use the e-mail address you ordered it under. See if anything here works. Some users with strong protection from outside malware turn off User Access Rights in the security control so they do not have to run as an admin.

if you reinstalled vista, you probably have a different product id on the registration screen, different than the first one. new product id, new key. you may need a new key.you also have to run rc as admin, each, and everytime on vista.jd
