Can this be done?

No I didn't look at it as competing. What I was trying to say was the steps given in your link is basically the very same thing that must be done regardless of which method chosen. Look at it this way. Vista has a BCD file. That BCD file can be edited with the bcdedit executable included with Vista but to do it that way requires entering commands and is very time consuming and confusing to use. The EasyBCD program is basically just a front end for bcdedit to make BCD changes easier. But yes it's up to IMC to decide which way he does it and if he is going to re-format and install XP first then editing the BCD file becomes a moot point.Todd
You're absolutely right, of course. Personally, I like to know what's going on behind the scenes as much as possible ( :( ), but having found that out I might well use EasyBCD myself.Btw, as I'm new to these forums (and to modern flight-simming in general), do you know whether there's a "hi, I'm tin can, nice to meet you" section? I had a look around and couldn't see one, and it feels a little strange jumping in without saying hi first!

I don't know anything about those programs...but you need to edit your boot.ini file on your primary partition/harddrive to enable the OS selection screen when you boot up.To get to it..go to System properties, then click on Advanced tab, then click Settings under startup and recovery, then click edit. This is your boot.ini file. This is what mine looks like, note I have 2 seperate OS installs on 2 different hard drives.[boot loader]timeout=30default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS[operating systems]multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Gaming" /noexecute=optin /fastdetectmulti(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Other" /noexecute=optin /fastdetectI know rdisk is for physical hard drives, and you can start with 0 as being the master. If your partitions are on the same harddrive, i guess you'd change the partition number..but I'd google it. Good luck.

Hello,The best way (IMHO) for run many differents OS as you like is to use a internal or external caddy HD's system ..That's the most comfortable and professional way to go..And also very secure for obvious reasons.I use this system for 7 HD's ...The cost is very cheap and it's no fuss .. http://www.hitechlegion.com/reviews/storag...nclosure-reviewRegards.bye.gifGus.

The boot.ini only exists if XP is your main operating system. What you posted above does not apply if you install Vista even in a dual boot setup. The Vista BCD will replace the XP boot.ini in a Vista-XP dual boot installation.Todd
