July 7, 200916 yr Is it true?At least to try I should know if I need to keep the ione texture in the scenery folder or the one in the main texture folder? What is everyone's feedback on that?Note: I have already checked all my landlass and waterclass files locations.ThanksGhiom
July 7, 200916 yr Try to use application called "Find All Duplicate" for duplicate textures. You can grabb it from here, and it's free:http://www.scenery.org/design_utilities_b.htmAnd yes, it is better, if some 3D object share the same texture, to have them in one place, than two textures in two different places/folders. My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....
July 7, 200916 yr Yes, thank you, but what location should be favored?ThanksGhiomHaving duplicate textures cause an OOM error is news to me. I have always understood that having duplicate textures cause no harm other than taking up disk space. Can you provide a citation for the assertion regarding duplicate textures?Having an "empty" texture folder is another matter all together.Just curious. :(

July 7, 200916 yr HiRead this post:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...80&start=80starting at the message sent on Jan 09 by Victor Buck (Strider)Just read it - what I read was that he "suspected" a potential problem with duplicate textures - never saw the he or anyone else was able to confirm it.I have always understood that if indeed the textures are exact dulpicates (not just in name only) that FS will use the first it find when that texture is required. If I have laboring under incorrect info I hope some expert will enlighten us all.
July 7, 200916 yr Author What he said is that tow times, he managed to solve OOM by removing duplicated texture. What I am not sure of is where it is best to have this texture? My understanding is that FS will 1st look in the addon scenery texture subfolder and then if the file is not found in the root texture folder. Which means that it is better (at least for disk space saving) to have only one texture in the common texture folder.Am I correct?Thanksghiom
