Its not only applicable to OOM errors... The program can keep running slow and stable when it runs out of available memory. Also, because I have so much extra memory (1GB) I wouldn't get the error even if FS9 reached its internal memory limit...

same here. And i have FS9 running on 3 different machines....NEVER had a OOM! (all running on WinXP 32bit). I've also once left FS9 running for 32+ hours and it was fine when i returned. The plane was parked at the gate, AI was going about its thing, etc. I checked the memory usage and it was completely normal. These OOM or memory overload problems are caused by third party addons. FS9 has only crashed on me twice (CTD), and both were caused by the FlightZone Portland scenery (approaching from a certain direction in summer...this bug was never fixed...so i just avoid that route).FS9 is extremely stable if you keep it clean and streamlined. -feng
As far as the amount of RAM my system is using, when running FS9 its hovering at an extremely steady 3GB, even though I'm running a 64-bit OS and have 4GB of RAM.
That's a pretty sizable footprint. I've never seen near that amount with the heaviest of the heavy. I max out the clouds, traffic, have a few scenery addons. Level-d, Captain Sim stuff... :(
Yeah that is crazy...FS9 using 3GB of RAM?! :( I'm curious to know what you have running that is making it so high. I think the highest that I have had it up to was 2GB with complete world coverage of AI traffic from Ultimate Traffic, full weather sight/3D/draw settings and 32bit textures, and when running CS757, PMDG 747, or Level-D's planes. Not saying that it is impossible, but I am curious about what you have running in the back to get FS9 needing 3GB. :(

I know it has happened for me on FSX. I can't remember on FS9...but I'm sure I got it someday...Though I do have FS9 freeze more regularly, lol.
