RC 4 slow response

Featured Replies

Hello all, i recently bought RC 4 but i'm having problems: the interface is very slow, when i press the key to acknowlege/ask something there is a huge lag (about 30 seconds) before i hear my pilot speaking and then the ATC response comes after another 30 seconds. Last night during an approach i got a "clear to land" 10 seconds after touchdown! the RC windows sometime says STANDBY.. and stays there for 1 minute or more. Also menu changing (es. 9 for the next page or 0 for main) is responding after 30 seconds.I currently use ASA and Ultimate Traffic 2 but i got this issues also without loading ASA and with only 2-3 AI aircrafts around me. I have a [email protected], 4Gb RAM and Vista x64. I've also a 300gb raptor hard disk and my sim is always smooth, never had FPS issues even with tens of AI aircrafts around.Any hint?

I solved the problem by installing RC on a second pc using WideFS. I now get almost instantaneous responses. I think RC was working only on my 1st core, on my pc with fsx it is always at 100% so it is hard for it to find free cpu cycles to do its job. Changing cpu affinity to let it run on other cores provided some relief but running it on another pc is the best solution!

Hi Blaster. I used to get the same problem (lag) and did something to get things back to normal without going to a second computer. I think it was to turn off the DWC in ASA. It's been a while and I am not totally sure that was the exact cure for this specific problem but I do know you need to turn off the DWC if you are using FSX. Hope this helps a little.

Thank you woodhick, but i had the same problems even with ASA turned off... I think it was only a CPU issue. Setting the affinity to make RC4 run on less busy cores gave me some improvements. But with a second pc is another performance :(

setting different apps to run on different cores/procs is a bad idea. let the operating system divy up the time. in the long run, it does a better job of it than you canjd
