July 21, 200916 yr Is there a limit of how many [flitsim.XXX] entries you can have under one a/c type? Lord knows most of us have scads of AI airplanes in a multitude of a/c type directories. Tried to enter one more in my AI B738W type making the total 200. It takes the entry but the a/c never shows up. SOOOOO.........I took the entry out of my B738W type and put it (and the texture) in the B738 type. I only have 82 entries in there. This time it took and the a/c DOES show up..So is 200 the maximum entries per type or did I do something else wrong? I checked all my typing for spaces, underscores, etc...all was fine. Thanks for a reply...:)[email protected]

Thanks for a reply...:)[email protected]Aircraft.cfg files usually support up to 200 textures per folder. So you can have fltsim.0 up to fltsim.199 in a single aircraft.cfg file. Some people have reported that they do see textures with higher numbers then 199.Simple fix is to duplicate the folder you have more then 200 entries in and start to ad additional textures there. For FS it isn't a problem to have 2 different aircraft folders containing the same aircraftSo as an example:1st folder name : WoA_AIA_B738W2nd folder name : WoA_AIA_B738W1Hope this is usefull for youKind regards,Tom vd HorstWorld-of-AI Kind Regards, Tom van der Horst World-of-AI
July 22, 200916 yr Is that really the only thing that you need to do, that is, duplicate the aircraft folder? Don't you also need to have a unique title in the new aircraft.cfg file? I mean, you can't have the same title appearing more then once in any aircraft folder...or am I mistaken? Then, if you re-title the aircraft doesn't that mean that all of the flightplans won't be able to find it...so you'd need to edit the traffic.bgl to include the new aircraft title too. I must be way off on this because that's what I thought needed to happen with a new AI aircraft folder.Mark
July 22, 200916 yr Maybe that is correct because any new entry would have to have a unique title for the new livery...hummm...it just didn't seem right at first.Mark
July 22, 200916 yr Aircraft.cfg files usually support up to 200 textures per folder. So you can have fltsim.0 up to fltsim.199 in a single aircraft.cfg file. This would appear to be a myth. To be certain I have just created some test plans using aircraft numbered 231 and 232 and can confirm that the aircraft display and perform normally. If there is a limit, it is above 233!I suspect this idea has come about purely through errors in the aircraft.cfg file. Something as simple as omitting one number in the series is enough to disable everything above that number.Kindest regards,John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
July 22, 200916 yr You clearly forgot to make the other 198 aircraft, the limit is on the actual number of paints per folder, not what arbitrary number you assign to a paint as a name. Cheers, Andy.
July 22, 200916 yr You clearly forgot to make the other 198 aircraft, the limit is on the actual number of paints per folder, not what arbitrary number you assign to a paint as a name.Pardon? If I had "forgotten" the other 198 aircraft, the liveries will not work at all if assigned an "arbitrary number". They must be sequentially numbered starting at 0 to work at all. Therefore, to test numbering above 200, there have to be over 200 paints present.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
July 22, 200916 yr John,As I stated already in my post some users don't expierence the problem when going over 200 paintfolders in a single aircraft folder. Others however do have the problem ( I'm one of them myself)So whenever I go over a 200 repaint limit I'll create a second folder and then they do show up.So I guess we are both right , sometimes it is visible on specific computers when the number is higher then 200, other times they aren't visible on different computers.Maybe the source for it lies in the specific OS or filesystem used ?Kind regards,Tom vd HorstWorld-of-ai Kind Regards, Tom van der Horst World-of-AI

No harm in doing that. Thank you all for your responses and input. I apparently am one of those that can't put more than 200 entries in the aircraft.cfg file. It is interesting though, why some systems accept more than 200 entries and other systems do not. No biggie.......was just curious. Thanks again...Marty
