July 22, 200916 yr that rig should be doing you pretty well at the moment. but a q9550 will give you smoother gameplay and maybe allow you to play at higher settings, but i would say save up for a full rig, not just the CPU. The core 2 quads are on middle ground now, quite good performance for the price, but with more i7/i5 etc releases soon, it doesnt seem like an upgrade that will last, Philip Regards, Philip Lodge PC specs; Windows 7 64 bit home premium, Asus P6X58D-E, Intel core i7 930 @ 4.0 GHz, Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3 1600MHz triple channel RAM, POV GTX 470, 500gb HDD + 250gb FS HDD, 24" 1920 x 1200, 19" 1280 x 1024 GoFlight MCPPro, VRInsight CDU II, Saitek Pro Flight Radio Panel. July 24, 200916 yr Author Cool, thanks for the replies.I overclocked my E6850 from 3ghz to 3.6ghz with a thermal take cooler last night. It runs quite well and temps dont go > 57C when running Orthos for few hours.Am thinking of changing this to the Q9550 this weekend hopefully overclocking to 3.6ghz which should run quite well then with the 4 cores. The E6850 can stay in a drawer for a few weeks on its own til I buy another motherboard, ram etc then I can build another PC and network it via WideView.regardsGraham
