August 3, 200916 yr Hey, i have this problem since i use fs9 on vista. Well i use fs9 on vista since 2006, but now im fully ###### of it. In fsx doesnt happen. When im on flight, and i simply press right click for changing view or anything else, screen goes black for 5 secs, and then the view menu appear and all is ok, its hell annoyin. Same thing happens if i press alt for making the menu bar to appear. I tried running compatibility mode and checking the run as admin box (Im the admin of the pc, but in vista you know...) I also tried unchecking an option in general which says "stop sim when doing other tasks", but same... I dont think that the problem is my computer because im running a intel Q9550 2.83 (stock speeds) and 8 gig ram ddr2. Help me pleaseGreetings
August 3, 200916 yr please, someone answer this. I have this problem with VISTA 32 bit too, and would love to know how to fix it.
August 4, 200916 yr Hi, have you tried going into your personal settings and changing your colours from Windows Aero to Windows classic!! It solved a whole host of problems for me and even improved my FP's!CheersFox
August 4, 200916 yr It happens not only on Vista 32 and 64-bit, but also on Windows 7 RC 32-bit (not sure about 64-bit). Luckily 7 is faster, I guess now I can live with that. But nbquidditch, when you say "Windows classic" you mean a color scheme Best regards,Luis Hernández Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. August 4, 200916 yr Hi, on Vista if you right click in your desktop and go to Personalise, then 'Window Colour & Appearance you have an option to change to 'Windows Classic'. I did this and I can now run MS9 in window mode and without any black mouse pointer etc!Fox.
August 4, 200916 yr No, :( unfortunately changing to window classic didn't fixed the problem. Btw, im using fullscreen mode, not windowed. And also i always have the windows sidebard closed, because caused many problems to some games as fallout3 and oblivion. Any other solution? This pissing me so hard, cant have a smooth flight,, When changing views with my joystick button works fine, no black screen, but when for example i need to access an specific part of the cockpit, pedestal, radio stack, overhead.... i need to right click or alt for checking the menu bar, and pufff... 5 secs with blackscreen...Thanks for the replies, hope that with some more solutions this get fixedGreetings :(
August 4, 200916 yr changing to classic didn't help me either.I would really like to get this fixed because when I try to bring up extras like PMDG style's menu and FSUIPAC controls, this issue makes the screen go permanently black and I have to kill the process to quit.
August 5, 200916 yr andqui, in my case i dont have to open the taskbar and end the process. When i just press a click for changin view or i press alt, screen go black for 5 secs and then the game return, it does not crash or something, but it bothers a lot, and you take long time to reach the panel you need in that moment.
August 5, 200916 yr I don't have to quit with task bar every time- but my game does go black whenever I hit ALT to bring up the menu, right click to bring up the mouse menu, or change anything with the 2d panel. I can change 3d views fine without the stutter. For me it lasts about 1-2 seconds. The real game killer for me is that when I try to bring up extra models like FSUIPAC controls and the PMDG styles menu, sometyhing with this black screen issue goes wrong, and the screen is completely and permanently black. If I alt+tab, I can breifly see the box I want before it goes to the desktop, so it's loading, but I can't make it get past the black screen. The FS mouse is still there, so it's not as if it's a CTD. But once this happens, and I have the black screen in front of one of the addon-boxes, I can't get back to the FS menu to go back to what I was doing or to quit, so I have to kill the process to quit the game.Maybe it's a resolution issue? I'm running 1440 x 900. I'll try using a lower resolution. But it most likely has something to do with Vista.btw, I am running FS9 as an administrator.Hope there's a solution.
August 5, 200916 yr Hope there's a solution. There is no solution for this problem in Vista 32/64 or Windows 7 32/64.But there is a workaround :Make a new installation of WXP 32 bits on a new harddisk. Then on boot time with most of mainboards, you have the possibility to choose which disk is bootdisk.(It's also possible to have a dual boot with Vista or Windows 7, but it's not very convenient if you have Vista pre-installed)Format this new big harddisk for WXP (300 / 500 GB) with 2 partitions : system and FS9, and enjoy FS9 without any trouble. For FSX, boot on Vista (Windows 7); For FS9, boot on WXP Happy FlyingsPierre Pierre LFBE
