How can the PW engine be changed from the default 60K thrust limit to 62K thrust (62,000 pounds of thrust)?CFM4-16-1-39A. MCDU Auto Thrust Limits page – Press SELECT 62K*.B. G/A Switch – Press during takeoff roll.C. WAGS event – automatically.D. All of the above. I never knew I could get the full 62K by pressing G/A on my throttleRegardsRob Rob Prest
August 6, 200916 yr hmmm i never knew about the G/A switch during takeoff roll. Tell me something, when you tried it, does the thrust revert back to 60K passing 80-100kts or so? It used to do that whenever i selected it through the MCDU. Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.

August 6, 200916 yr If you're using the P&W's 62K option you should also be utilizing Flap 28 for departure. Sam Anderson Every cigarette takes 17 minutes off your life, every slice of bacon takes 9 minutes off your life. If you smoke and eat bacon fast enough, you can go back in time.
August 6, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Well you should only need 62K If At MTOW or hot and high so we would expect to be using Flap 25/28. I just left KORD very light so only used flap 15 however it shouldn't matter. We need a MD11 tech guy to chime in.RegardsRob Rob Prest
August 6, 200916 yr I just successfully used the P&W 62K thrust option for take off and climb by not using the auto throttles to set T/O thrust.I don't know if there is a reason why the auto throttle resets T/O thrust from 62K to 60K during the take off roll... seems like it may be an easily over looked bug. August 6, 200916 yr Certaintly a feature I knew nothing about and I fly the P&W all the time.. I would imagine this is something similar to our contingency power of the GE T700 series motors. It probably has a certain time limit you can use it within. Seeing as the MD-11 is pretty automated I would think that once it hits the maximum time it would revert back to 60K thrust. Still a nice little boost for max TO. Thanks for the tip. Steve Jordan Aviation Structural Mechanic SH-60B/HH-60H/MH-60R/MH-60S USN FSX Hours: 3000 and counting
