  1. If memory serves me correct with X-Plane it actually builds an aerodynamic model off of the actual plane mesh. That was one of the main pro's of X-Plane, and I could never figure out why MS didn't just go that route. I would think that would be the biggest hurdle is having to build the flight dynamics from the ground up for FSX as it is completely different. Only people that know for sure though is them as I don't think anyone else is even attempting anything similar. I hope it all pans out well as I would love to add the DC-6 to my FSX hangar. I am very tempted to dig out my X-Plane 10 disc from the depths of my containers though, and give it a whirl.
  2. Almost need an animation of a plane on final for landing so we can count down. Kind of like the ball drop on New Years Eve, lol. Can't wait to see videos of peoples flights popping up so I can see what eventually awaits for FSX.
  3. Looks fantastic! Almost makes me wish I was an X-plane user. I will definitely get it day 1 for FSX when that transition happens though.
  4. That is amazing you can buy a DC-6 for less than a P-51 Mustang, but yeah it is for sale on Controller for 1.2mill. I don't have the money anyway which is why I've been around in FS for so long, lol. I see everyone is over the in the 747-400 v3.0 Queen of the Skies II (as named by RSR) thread. Hopefully once the FSX/P3D versions start getting shown the thread picks up. I haven't touched X-Plane in a long time myself, but if I make any type of migration it will be to P3D.
  5. Nice job to all involved! Looking forward to the FSX release (when it is time). I will go on ahead and fork over my $12,000,000.
  6. Good to see you are well Robert. I know what you mean about the 1% burning you out. I mainly just come on the forums to see if you posted anything and really don't try to get in the weeds on the posts. At least another fantastic study level sim is inbound!
  7. I personally have an Alienware M17x R4 that has served me really well while I have been on deployment, and away from my desktop... I know the stigma associated with the machines. However since they are SATA III (faster internal communication between CPU, graphics card, etc) it works almost better than my desktop with FSX. Plus it only has a 2.9ghz i7, but still feels pretty quick.... If you are looking for decent though Asus makes the G75 and that what I was cross shopping with the M17x. Just keep in mind you will need a SSD for FSX though to get the best texture loading rates. I fly NGX no problems though, and RSR says the 777 is even more frame friendly. Either way the newer generation of laptops run FSX quite nicely. The only thing I cannot run is AI traffic. Other than that all of the settings are maxed out.
  8. We would like to make it known that we will continue supporting the Avsim Store customers in any way we can. If you need the SP1, or you just need something from us in general and have purchased any of our products from the Avsim store please email me at Roadburner440 at milviz dot com and I will get you taken care of. We thank you guys for your purchases and support, and we look forward to serving you all well in to the foreseeable future. Steve
  9. The 737-200 will be FSX only, and it is being developed by Military Visualizations. I know it has been awhile since everyone has seen the aircraft, and I think you guys will be surprised once we start showing her off again. Aircraft is definately coming along nicely though in the backround.
  10. Good evening all. We have hit yet another project milestone with our King Air with the initial modeling of the VC coming to completion. Just wanted to stop in and show off some progress, and we cannot wait to show what this pit looks like with some textures. Hope everyone enjoys, and as always please remember these are a work in progress.
  11. I paid full price for the MD-11, NGX (both standard, and the expansion), bought the NGX Captain's set, and the JS4100. I think total that is somewhere in the neighborhood easy of over $500 although I can't remember. I did luck out at Best Buy and picked up the 747 on disc for $20. Flight simming is really my only hobby other than RC cars, and I don't smoke or drink so I figure the money has to go somewhere.
  12. I really think they get like we do, and when you get the bird in game and start rolling through Alpha a lot of "what ifs" start rolling through your mind. Then all of the testers and us start thinking "well this would be cool, and that would be awesome!" Then you wind up down the road thinking wow this took awhile. In the end though you are right it winds up making for a far better product.. I know some of the things we debate on our team are out there. RSR talking about doing arithemetic and things though for hydraulic fluid temperatures, and tons of other stuff though takes the cake. I think it would be cool to see a behind the scenes PMDG building of an aircraft. Especially since I am involved in real life aviation and schematics and such fascinate me. I am not so sure how I feel about the 747 V2 though. I still like the legacy one, and while it is showing its age I still think she is holding her ground even in todays sim era. I think if anything I am more excited about the 747-8's that will be fully functional. As I resisted temptation to just get the exterior models. Now those will be cool.
  13. We are also working hard at Milviz to get the F-86 and 737-200 out before years end! Looking forward to the 777 and DC-6 though myself over here, and hopefully those are out by years end as well. I will agree there are a lot of good products coming out over the next few months. Looking forward to Aerosoft's next US Cities X installment (Los Angeles), and Fly Tampa's Montreal airport. Really not to sure what else is over the horizon though.
  14. The 737-200 while unvieled awhile ago is not talked about much simply because we are deep in development. The -200 will be a good bird for people who like the 737, but want the older J8TD engines and older cockpit layout. I personally like classic birds, so this one is right up my alley (along with the F-86!).
  15. Good evening all. Just wanted to take this opportunity to share with you guys an update on the 737-200. Bill has finished coding the log in to the over head panel, and getting all the lights in place. So just wanted to put this shot up showing the over head in all of its glory. Each light does have its own auto-dimming feature, and is set up to Boeing specifications. They are all illuminated here using the test function for show. Hope you guys enjoy, and we look forward to showing off more of this birds features soon as this is our most exciting product yet!
  16. If I recall correctly the paint kit for NGX was out a day or so prior to release. Unless it was only given to select individuals. About the soonest you could ever expect that out is maybe a week. The cons in releasing it early are if you have to make any changes to the model you have to redo the textures/UV's/etc which will invalidate the old paint kit. Paint kits are also fairly hard to make if done properly with all of the various layers. So it is not an easy task that they can do, and put out there. Another down side is if the paint kit comes to early then people will think release is imminent. To be honest there aren't many upsides other than people being able to create a bunch of repaints before release. Although without an external model to check it with it would be limited to experienced painters.

  18. I myself fall in to the camp of letting the aircraft fly on its own. Granted I do not leave it while I say go to work. I will put the NGX up in the air though, and leave the sound turned up in case there are any alarms that pop up. A lot of times with chores to do around the house and such it is just the way things are. While I am around for the take off, climb, descent, and approach I usually leave it be in cruise. I think this pilot keep awake feature would be cool to have even though I do not sit at the computer the entire time. I do periodically check on the aircraft to make sure things are not creeping up out of limits. I definately have to agree with Ryan that the whole FSX camera to LCD screen is not easy. Just trying to work on things of that nature has been pretty hard. Considering it has taken VRS this long to get it right would also suggest it is no easy task for them either. While it would be cool for PMDG to have this in the 777 I am not going to be disappointed if it is not. Knowing what perfectionists they are though, and comments from the staff of the 777 containing things we have never seen in FSX before makes me think they have again done the impossible. Just need to sit tight and see what is in it. I bet if you bought the Flight Manual set that will be a good indication of what is/isn't in the bird. As my NGX Chief Pilot's set was spot on.
  19. Good evening everyone. Just wanted to let you guys know that we just released the SP for the Baron on our site here: http://www.milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=2167 . For people that bought from our site/F1 you can download from our site and reinstall. The other vendors will be uploading the SP over the next few days! Thanks for your continued support, and we hope you enjoy the bird.
  20. I am testing it as we speak. About halfway from Jacksonville, FL to Newport News, VA. So far no problems. I have no ETA on time myself, but providing I don't run in to any issues I would say a day or 2 at the most. We have already had a few of the other testers run through it, so just doing a QA flight on it myself at this point.
  21. You are not dreaming. We are doing the King Air 350i model. Very early renders here http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.274798289231220.74274.184784678232582&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=386332771411104&set=a.274798289231220.74274.184784678232582&type=3&theater and http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.274798289231220.74274.184784678232582&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=386326234745091&set=a.274798289231220.74274.184784678232582&type=3&theater . Like I said she is a very early work though, so there is no firm guesstimate on release date yet.
  22. Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
  23. Dude you are awesome! Thank you much. It looks like they concentrated more on downtown than the actual base. As the piers with the carriers still look exactly the same as in FSX. The downtown area is far improved though. Looks like I still need to continue work on the base for both FSX and this. Thanks again! Can't wait to get it.
  24. Personally I haven't had any issues with REX Essentials except the slight stutter when it is injecting weather. Other than that it is beautiful! Granted I did not have REX2. I upgraded from Flight1's FEX to REX Essential. I do manually inject the weather though, and do not let REX boot FSX. I do agree sometimes that installing new add-ons is playing Russian Roulette though. I always do a backup prior to installing anything major so that way I can undo it relatively easily.
  25. Hey everyone... Fixing to board the Prepar3d band wagon, but had a request first. I see in their preview shots Norfolk, VA, and it looks beautiful in their previews. Was wondering if someone could take screens of the area, particularly over by Norfolk Naval Station (airfield & helicopter pads by the tunnel) since they are not shown anywhere. I have been working on fixing this stuff in FSX, but if the rest of Norfolk looks like the small preview on the site then I think I am sold. Thanks in advance.
