Acceleration and Nvidia card's

Featured Replies

Hey all,Does anyone know of a fix for the (in)famous Acceleration crash when accessing in game menus when playing on machines that use Nvidia cards? Last time I checked there wasn't a solution, except for uninstalling Acceleration.... I have my copy of FSX Gold sitting here and it seems a waste that I cant use Acceleration. For the record I have a Nvidia GO7600. Ha yes it's a Laptop card! It maybe a few years old but by downloading a with a few mods and tweeks into FSX it can still produce some impressive results and some solid frame rates! If there is a solution, would be great to know :)Thanks

I've got Acceleration installed on a nVidia GTX280 and I've never had a problem with the in-game menus. I remember talk about this long ago, and I think the fix was to use the keyboard pointer and execute keys to navigate the menu system. I believe the problem only involved the mouse-menu system combination.

I had this problem with my old 7900 GTS. Maybe its the 7 series chipsets causing this. I now have a 9600 gts and the problem is not there any more. Although I still have a problem when alt/tabing sometimes. It might be better to try older drivers with that card first then see what happens. I also remember vaguely that when the sim froze when clicking the menu with the mouse, I used to alt/tab a few times and the sim came back to life. Might be worth a try.

I had a similar problem.. a 8800GTS on an ASUS m-board. After installing Acceleration..any aircraft with glass cockpits or MFDs would crash the computer when the mouse pointer was used. My fix was a BIOS flash. You could tell that it was a crude fix.. It was like the computer knew a crash situtation was coming.. and the game would pause until that situation passed..

I'm glad it worked for you!

Had another quick play around this time with some REX installed, and had bit more of a test, opened more windows, changed the weather and time of day, aircraft settings and still not a single crash or lock up!! :) So now I can say much more confidently this problem is solved, and I can get my $$$ worth :)Again thanks Zorg_DK for the heads up :( BTW mod's, maybe this fix should be pinned somewhere......

Ha dammit! I was celebrating to early, though now I'm just confused. After several day's of not having any crashes when opening up the in game menu's with the mouse, now it's crashing single every time, humm #####! Weird I haven't changed anything or downloaded any addons, so beats me why its playing up again.*sigh*Oh well I guess there isn't a fix :( Just have to remember to use the arrow keys to use the in game menus!
