Virtual Cockpit

Featured Replies

Hi Guys - I have just purchased an addon aircraft (Aerosoft F16) that does not come with a 2D cockpit.I have a real hard time using VC's, and a 2D panel would REALLY be nice.Question is, assuming i have found a suitable 2D panel ( http://www.simscape.fr/F16Panel.html ?), how can i use it in my plane? Thanks for your help

I can't help with the 2D panel since I don't use them and chances are the gauges in this 2D will be totally different that the ones that comes with the aerosoft F-16. Many of the newer FSX aircraft use 3D gauge technology and I am not sure if this translates to a 2D panel.Future reference, many newer FSX addon aircraft do not come with 2D panels, so you might want to check first.

1. Install the 2D package (comes with a free F16)2. Copy the panel folder from the 2D panel package to your Aerosoft F16, renaming it to panel.2d3. Edit the aircraft.cfg file for the Aerosoft F16 to panel=2d for at least one of the paintsNow you have a choice of panels in your Aerosoft package.

I don't have FSX, but I know that any of the planes in FS9 that use the 3D guages and don't include a 2d panel have exceptionally clear and "see-able" guages. I would think that even if you don't like VCs, it should be very easy to set up a view point in the VC using the various eyepoint and zoom settings that would basically look as good as (perhaps even better than) most 2D panels...
