August 19, 200916 yr I have FSX Acceleration with UTX/GEX/REX all installed on my C drive. Would it benefit to place them on the other blank drive? If so would it mean doing a re-install of everything?

August 19, 200916 yr If I make the move it would be for performance of FSX.I do not believe if it would be possible to copy the whole FSX folder to new drive. FSX lays in plenty of places on Your disk - ProgramData, AppData, Documents, Registry... Many of them!I do encourage You to do Format C: and put OS and FSX on separate drives. You will gain a little performance (especially with textures loading time). But do not expect that Your FPS will double. Bartłomiej Ender

August 19, 200916 yr For slightly better performance, you can install the texture programs (REX, GEX) and some others (ASA if you're using it, any third-party AI programs) on the C drive with the OS. FSX doesn't call them often, so performance won't be hurt if they're located elsewhere and you gain a bit since the FSX installation is smaller and more efficient. UTX insists on being installed in the FSX folder, and so do some other add-ons (for example, the ORBX FTX sceneries). Any add-ons that are called frequently (aircraft, acenery) need to be on the FSX drive.Once you're done with the installations, don't forget to defragment - the Complete/Name option on O&O v.11 works well. For more detail, search out Nick Needham's FSX tuning guides here and on Simviation.Hope this helps.Alan Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

Currently I have everything on my "C" drive. I'm thinking about moving FSX/REX/UTX/GEX over to my "E" drive simply because it is empty. I would imagine a slight if any noticeable performance. Really wondering if it's worth all the trouble to make that move.

It won't show in frames but it'll show in the quality of your textures, as well as their load times.Alan Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

I don't need to reinstall FSX to the empty drive? I can just copy it over along with UTX while leaveing GEX and REX on the C drive?
