August 19, 200916 yr Hello, it seems since the website was back online everytime I visit the Avsim website and click on the "FORUMS" link my computer hangs and I have to end TASK on "Task Manager". Also my CPU usage jumps to a very HIgh % in the 90's and sometimes tops out at 100% (according to Task Manager). After that everything is fine. I have not noticed this problem with any other websites I visit regularly on the NET. Also at times when I open the AVSIM site it opens at the "Library" page and I have to click on "Reset" to bring up the Main page, which is what I would prefer to start from. Do these issues have anything to do with my security settings on my computer?Regards,Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
August 19, 200916 yr Inquiries like yours should include names and version number/service pack level of both your Windows operating system and web browser (internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera etc) and amount of memory in your computer. You may be able to determine the OS information on the "My Computer" properties pop up (right click on the "My Computer" icon to access "Properties" on its context menu. Browser versions are often available as part of an "About..." pop up on the application's "Help" menu. There may also be usefull information on the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manager. The processes can be sorted in order of CPU loading by clicking the heading of the "CPU" column (may be abeviated to "C...". A second click should sort woth the busiest process at the top. The process using the highest percentage of CPU time might be what's experiencing the delay.Sometimes difficulty with a site can be remedied by clearing the temporary internet files (cache), browsing history and/or cookies. After clearing the cookies you might need to retype your user name and/or password to log into the AVSIM forums or similar sites. If the hard drive becomes active during the delays you might see improvement by closing other open applications or installing more memory in the computer.
August 19, 200916 yr Tom,When was the last time you ran a full virus scan and Spy-Bot checker? - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
August 23, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the replies. BTW I use IE7. FYI, Under the Task Manager "Process" tab, the top five (5) Active Processes (w/Mem usage) appear to be "Iexplore.exe" -71K, "explore.exe" -30K, "svchost.exe" -25K, "RTHDCPLE.EXE" -23K AND "nHancer.exe" -20K. I have done a complete virus scan in the last few days, as well as deleting cookies, browse history etc. It did not seem to help matters. I finally managed to open the forums after many many attempts. Also, I have no problems with any other links on the Avsim website, just the FORUMS link.Regards,Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
