FS-eXel

Featured Replies

Today we have yet another new enhancement for FS9, FS-eXel,and it looks good, but as most simmers will probably have addons like FSGenesis, Ultimate Terrain etc etc., there is no indication whether or not this will work, or what the results are. As it would seem you have to buy the product before asking questions on their site, anyone know the answers.

It's 10 dollars right now, so I thought "what the heck" and just bought it. Anyway, it's okay. The clouds are quite pretty, though some of them look a bit weird in the sky because there is a repetition of them. If the cloud would have been shaped differently, it would have been less conspicuous and therefore nicer. Concerning the runways and taxiways textures: the runways look nice, with some cracks and all, but I like the taxiway textures less. They look a bit green, which I think could have been greyer. The water textures are a mixture of things I like and don't like, namely the really deep blue textures I find great. I love that color. Some other textures seem a bit weird to me and I like those less. Ultimately, it will do as a temporary thing, until REX for FS9 appears, but when that comes, this will probably going off my harddrive...I do like it better than REPro, but that doesn't say a lot. I never really like REPro anyway.

Ya know, the more I fly with this FSeXel, the more I like it. I like the puffy, sort of realistic clouds, I generally like the water colors and the sky is very nice. PLUS, there is this great "haze" effect, so when I was flying around tenerife, there was this island in the diatnce that looked sort of hazy. What's more, because the water textures seemed to "end" just before the island, the haze effect made it so that the border between water and no-water was obscured, which was very nice. And I must say that that freeware Canary islands 2006 scenery package is extremely beautiful. I might go their more often now. Heck, I might even go on vacation to that place!

I thought about trying this add-on but I'm waiting on REX. I may end up using REX with Zinertek's water...

I can't blame you. For now it's rather nice and I can recommend it to people who don't feel like fiddling around with a dozen freeware packages. It's okay, but when REX comes out I'll move that way.
