FS2004 Sound Stuttering

Featured Replies

Whenever I takeoff and my engines get louder then the sound stutters or when an AI plane flies by and the sounds fade it also stutters. Is there a way it can be adjusted? I am using 32 bit sounds.

What are your computer specs, including sound card. You can always try to lower sound Hardware Acceleration one notch and see if it helps.Control panel -> Sound ->Volume tab -> Advance (under speaker settings) -> Performance tab

If you are using an on-board audio chip then it is sharing more of the resources with FS, possibly shared ram and even some processing might be done with the main processor. When an AI flies by or you are taking off or landing the 3D rendering load of moving 3D objects, and in FS the main CPU does most of the work, can get overloaded causing visual and/or audio stuttering. The sound level issue might be coincidental with the 3D object rendering load in these scenery changes. If you can install a separate sound card with its own ram and processor that might help since once the wavs are delivered to the card by its driver the main motherboard resources are relieved of the load and the sound processing is relieved of the motherboard processor load. Most sound files are 8-bit mono or 16-bit stereo sample sizes at a rate of 11 or 22 kHz.
