September 7, 200916 yr Good morning PMDGMy old monitor is out of order. Now I'll buy a new widescreen-monitor. Does the 747-400 (FSX/FS9) and MD11 (FSX/FS9) support widescreen monitos?Or what additional software I've to install it?Thanks for your support on this question.Best regards Marcel
September 7, 200916 yr No additional software needed. If you use VC only, 747, MD-11 and J41 will all work great. If you are a 2D panel user, the 747 2D panel will work, but be distored. MD-11 2D panel has a widescreen version (option in config manager). J41 has no 2D option at all.Widescreen is deff the way to go if buying a new monitor!

September 7, 200916 yr I dont find any widescreen distortion on my 747 - looks sweet. But, i agree - widescreen is the way forward!Look at everything that is supposed to be a circle, they are actually ovals. Everything is stretched out length-wise. Or actually - Don't look at it ehhe, if you haven't noticed, you'll enjoy it more by avoiding noticing now!

September 7, 200916 yr What would be an ideal size for a LCD monitor? Also, would it be necessary to purchase a 1080p versus a 720p and then there is the 60hz versus the 120hz speed. Anybody care to comment? jack

Anybody care to comment? jackDepends on what you want to use the monitor for. 1080P / 720P ect. are for televisions. They use a 16:9 aspect ratio. Movies are typically made with this ratio in mind (though it is changing all over the map the last couple years) 120hz is for 24fps video playback.59/60 hz refresh is standard for a computer monitor. They typically use a 16:10 aspect ratio. Computer games are usually made with this ratio in mind. Widescreen LCD Monitor mid range is typically 21-22".

Anybody care to comment? jackLove my 24 incher here. 1920X1200 is the resolution on it (for reference "1080p" on an HDTV is actually 1920X1080) The 60 and 120 stuff is for HDTVs, don't have to worry about that with a computer monitor. I would make sure you are actually buying a computer monitor and not an HDTV tho. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
September 7, 200916 yr Could I use a 32" or a 40" LCD TV/Computer monitor with 1080P resolution for FSX? If so, are there any pitfalls or should I just be happy with my 22" LCD Gateway monitor..Regards,jack
September 7, 200916 yr Commercial Member The pitfall with using an HDTV is mainly that usually the size to resolution ratio is much larger than with computer monitors - a 40" HDTV at 1920X1080 is going to look much more grainy and pixelated running FS than a 24" monitor at the same resolution will.
