any updates on Ariane navdata?

Featured Replies

The last press release I see on their site is from April of this year. Any news on navdata additions to the fmc? When it comes out I will seriously think about buying their airplane. Until then, no thanks.Alex

I think Navigraph is/was looking into supporting Ariane's 737 NG, but for whatever reason that has not happened (technical reasons cited). They have their own data tool in development; nothing new on that, either. FMC will probably not reach its full potential until the next version. It is a nice airplane now, with a lot to balance the deficiencies in my book, and I enjoy it. But they really need to get the final touches on automated navigation in place. PMDG's NG might be some time off into the misty future, but Ariane surely realizes they will not forever be the only NG in FSX Town.I don't know how a brand new version -- especially at the same price -- would sit with people if all it did was fix the FMC and add a roll yer own navdata tool. That would sound more like a patch and an option, to me.I wish them the best. It will be interesting to see what the next few months bring. Still one of my favorites.

thats too bad I really miss flying a 737 and would bite the bullet but not for an incomplete airplane. I hope they get their act together like captain sim has started to do.

For as far as I know, there will also be some enormous updated to the model. There is a topic on the Ariane forums with screenshots of the X3 737-700, and it looks absolutely great. There are new effects (the Coanda effect when coming out of clouds, for instance). The nose was remodeled to gain another 10 (!) FPS. The wing was also redone, to make the wingflex smoother, and apparently, it's a joy to behold to see it moving in the air (that's what the caption says, anyway). The screenshots look great, too. I say, head over to the General forum of Ariane to see it (Ariane customers only, though).

The nose was remodeled to gain another 10 (!) FPS.
Compared to what? Going from 10 fps to 20 fps (100% increase) or going from 60 fps to 70 fps (17% increase)?

That effect you mention is part of the existing model, isn't it? As far as frame rates, it is already very high, but 10 extra wouldn't hear a complaint from me. Thanks, I'll go take a gander.

And this new update will be $$$? Or a update to currently users???

No details, Flavio, but certain not to be a patch, i.e. will be a new product. The "Coanda Effect" looks better in the screen shots than the current one. Better wing flex claimed. Just have to wait and see who has what when. "Much simpler" activation (can't believe I just used the "A" word in another thread) promised. Oh, this will be the 700 model, too, not the 800 or 900 currently available for FSX. Current one scratches my NG itch sufficiently I'm not suffering an agony of anticipation for anyone's new offering. How many Boeings does one man need, anyway :-)

Yeah the navdata manager has been in development for years seemingly.. I don't know how it's taking so long though I seem to recall them blaming Windows security updates for it.. but that doesn't seem to be problematic for anyone else..? mm

The "coanda" effect was and has been in their very first FSX release 900ER x1... and the coanda effect has nothing to do with the apperance of fog/vapour etc due to the pressure differential.

Yes, but it has become better-looking. For the rest, I said absolutely nothing about it having to do with whatever, as you seem to imply... I only said "when coming out of a cloud" because that's what it said in the screenshot's caption...10FPS on what I don't know, but to me it seems 10FPS is 10FPS, and an increase in FPS is always good, no?Anyway, I'm rather pleased that they are doing a 700. That's my favorite 737NG model, although I'd gladly use the 800 too.
