September 9, 200916 yr Can anyone tell me if there is a 'Track miles to Destination' figure on one of the FMS pages. It may be through lack of knowledge but I don't find the VNav feature very accurate in maintaining a 3 deg descent. I much prefer to work out the descent profile myself using the 3 times rule, the problem is, if there is no VOR/DME beacon nearby it makes this very difficult. Most FMS units have this figure somewhere like Progress Page 1 on the Boeing FMS.Glen Glen
September 10, 200916 yr Author Anyone got an answer to this question please. The JS41 FMS displays a lot of information I will never need, but something as basic as - how many miles to my destination - I can't find :( ThanksGlen Glen
September 10, 200916 yr I would also be interested to see how you can view the distance to destination info. I have been looking for it myself.Regards,
September 10, 200916 yr Author MikeThanks I think I have found it. As you said, on the Plan - page 2 there is a figure next to FPL towards the bottom of the page which I presume means total miles of flight plan, it does count down during flight. Unless I've missed it somewhere the manual is very vague on the contents of the FMS.Glen Glen
September 10, 200916 yr The manual is not very detailed about this, and I haven't worked out the numbering system yet, but it is discussed on pages 538/539 of the AOM PDF. Chapter 8.11 - Avionics - Flight Management System. (About 5 pages back from the end of the document.) Paul Smith.
September 10, 200916 yr Author Thanks Paul, there is a picture of the FPL item I am talking about on page 8.11.112. I think this is the track miles to destination.Glen Glen
September 10, 200916 yr HeyFor those of you with a desire to learn more about the GNS-XLS you can go to https://www.bendixking.com/PilotGuides and search for GNS-XLS you will be able to download the quick-reference guide, pilots guide and the operators manual (the difference between the operators manual and pilots guide is very minimal though).Happy LandingsRene René Pedersen
September 10, 200916 yr Thanks for the link! Tom Risager NGX tutorial: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=162360 SIDs & STARs Worked Examples: LOWI-UUDD, KSEA-KLAX, EKCH-ENGM, YSCB-YPAD
September 10, 200916 yr Just keep in mind when you're using that guide that not everything applies to the J41 (Both here and in the real world).
