Weird Parking Issue

Featured Replies

Hello,I have downloaded and installed Project Opensky's A330 v2 and 747-400 v4 series, and I've installed the Cathay Pacific textures for both. However, it really bothers me that in the game, if I request to taxi to a gate in either plane. I get sent off to some far away location which is actually labeled parking in AFCAD, as i checked.I've checked the aircraft.cfg, and the airline parking code is CPA for cathay, and i checked in AFCAD, the gates are CPA. or basically, this is part of my aircraft.cfg for my A330.

But the thing is, the parking works fine for the AI Cathay Pacific planes. I checked their parking code, it's also CPA. I've even used an AI plane and requested to taxi to the gate, which I then went to an actual gate, not parking.Does anyone have a clue?

Hi,Sorry can't help but at least you get an option for parking, whenever i land at any airport i always get an option from ATC to take off and not park :( i end up just finding an empty space to pull in to.. Any ideas how i can get paking gate clearance and guidance ?

Parking assignment from the MS ATC for the player's aircraft does not use the parking codes in the aircraft.cfg. Those codes are only used for AI aircraft. For the player aircraft, there are two things that the ATC uses. Whether you asked for Gate or Parking. And what the mdl radius size of your player aircraft is. If you ask for taxi to gates, then it assigns you a Gate type space with the first radius size big enough to fit your aircraft mdl radius. If you ask for Parking, North Parking, East Parking, etc., then it tries to assign you a space within that grouping that is just big enough to accomodate your airplane. The parking code is ignored throughout all this.In order to be assigned a certain gate, you can use a player radius technique. Make the gates that you want to park at, and the aircraft that you fly, a certain chosen radius size. Place a blocking code in that gate like "XXX" to prevent AI aircraft from being assigned that gate. After you land, you can ask ground control for taxi to gate, or parking, and you will be assigned that space since it best fits your aircraft's mdl radius. The Afcad program can be used to adjust both parking space and aircraft radiuses.

Were you cleard to land by the MS ATC? Or did you just land on your own, without actually having conducted that flight "within" the ATC system? Because the default options, obviously, are takeoff options as you start the game. If you never actually went through those choices and progressed through them within the ATC programming, then it wouldn't have known that you actually have taken off, flown somewhere and landed. If you want it to give you options that make sense, then you have to do things that make sense to it. You can't just pop a landing somewhere without having talked to anybody. If you landed without a clearance to land, how could you expect a clearance to taxi to parking? If you want it give you taxi to parking options, then before you land, contact the tower and tell it you want to land.

Cheers for that.. I always get clearance before landing, but everytime i land i'm told to contact ground which i do, then the options of taxi straight out is displayed, taxi to gates is there but when i press it, it goes back to contact ground, which i do, and then the same happens again... not sure what is happeningThx anyway

Hmm, in VHHH (Hong Kong Intl.)I checked the radius of the gates at both, the standard gates for parking and the parking location I'm sent to. They're both the same, and they're both - parking type: Gate Heavy.Radius: 177.17I suspect it is the same issue in WSSS (Singapore Changi)Because in that airport, I'm also sent to some lone corner of the airport for my 'gate'.

It sounds as if all available gates are taken. You may have more AI active than the airport is designed to handle. You can check if this is the issue by temporarily reducing your AI traffic setting to 0%.Best wishes,John

Ah ha, sounds logical, will try that thx

If anyone is interested in setting up VIP (dedicated) parrking spots for your favorite aircraft at various airports, this file will explain how it is done:vip_park.zip - not currently available here but you can find it at Flightsim.com.The filename there is vp_park.zipHope you fond it useful.

Thanks, I'll try this out.

That's one of your problems. Those are not "personally" sized. If you want to be able to consistently park at a chosen gate, there can only be but one parking gate of that size at that airport matched up to your aircraft's mdl size.
