September 23, 200916 yr jwenham: Seems it was the latest Nvidia drivers that didn't work out for me... alas I'm back to 182.50 which seems to be a crowd favorite anyway.

As others have found, the DX update does seem to have delivered a small boost in performance, to my surprise. As I understand it, the 182.50 drivers favoured by many are not Win7 drivers: they will work under Win7, but (I believe) they use WDDM1.0 instead of 1.1, with potential adverse implications for RAM use and possibly other technical disadvantages. But whatever the technicalities, on my PC there is little to choose between 182.50 and 190.62. The earlier drivers do, perhaps, carry a higher nominal framerate; but my subjective impression is that the 190.62 is smoother overall, with fewer peaks and troughs.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor.
