September 11, 200916 yr How come only service example 1 has level mapping numbers like 7,8,8,9, etc...?can i add those settings to service 3, or service 4??
September 11, 200916 yr Suggest you suck it and see. Try a few different settings and see what you get. It's so difficult to give a straight answer to these questions because everyones system is different, some have faster broadband than others and the mapping is different from area to area. September 14, 200916 yr It turns out that I can add those numbers to the other services. They work there, too.thx~dog
September 15, 200916 yr I don't think there is much point in using anything under 9 from what I can see and I'm beginning to think about not using 10 or 11 too.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
September 15, 200916 yr IAN,I agree with you. Last night I was experimenting a little more with the settings, and I am finding that if I "up" all the number values to something like -- 11,11,13,13,15,15,16,17,17,17,17,17 -- it looks great, or at least good enough for me.Im switching between service 1, and service 3. I dont see too much a difference between the services, but I think i need to fly more. The loading times are about the same.I fly mainly the west coast USA, specifically San Jose, California, or mostly within the Santa Clara Valley. Christian, I Salute you! This is the future. Thanks for your comments, IAN. What areas do you fly?RichSanta Cruz, CA
September 15, 200916 yr Rich, Most of my flying is in the south west of the UK. Service 1 is great here and in the lake district too.I'm currently experimenting with service 3 and found good results using the same level mapping setting I was using with service 1 namelylevel_mapping=9,10,11,13,14,14,15,16,17,18,19Got some reasonable scenery around Chicago and am now off to buffalo NY to have a look at that.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
September 15, 200916 yr Christian, I Salute you! This is the future. Thanks, but I think the future stopped when Microsoft axed the ACES team.
September 15, 200916 yr They'll be back...well, maybe not them, precisely, but some incarnation of them. I Like to think that there will always be room for a company that can create a flight simulator for PCs, so long as there are PCs still available. I remain optimistic. :( If I have you still on the line, here, what service do you use, and where do you fly mostly?Just curious, really. Thanks againRich
September 16, 200916 yr If I have you still on the line, here, what service do you use, and where do you fly mostly?I stopped using Tileproxy a while ago. My fresh install of FSX on my new laptop only has Orbx FTX Australia (SP3) on it.I still very much enjoy the Tileproxy HD videos that penneyfour, flyboyandre and others keep posting to youtube.Christian
September 16, 200916 yr My little trip out of Buffalo last night was great. Really good views of Niagra Falls using service 3.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

Can we infer from the above that you are no longer developing the software? Or do you simply use FTX as a break from your own work when you fly to relax? regards, Mark
