Are FSX airports (of a suitable size) supposed to have strobe lighting? I have VFR Airfields 1+2 installed (UK2000), and I can't recall ever seeing strobe lighting at any of the airports. Is this not a standard lighting system?

FSX have put in strobroscopic approach lighting in, where actually as you've found out at the real aiports, such doesn't exist always.

I have been told on another forum that strobe lighting is essentially "an American thing". Presumably, that is why I haven't seen it at the airports in Britain :(

An approach lighting system, or ALS, is a lighting system installed on the approach end of an airport runway and consisting of a series of lightbars, strobe lights, or a combination of the two that extends outward from the runway end. ALS usually serves a runway that has an instrument approach procedure (IAP) associated with it and allows the pilot to visually identify the runway environment and align the aircraft with the runway upon arriving at a prescribed point on an approach.
