September 18, 200916 yr HiI have just bought a new rig. Including a Nvidia GTX 295 and nice iiyama 1920 X 1200 LCD screen. I get excellent frame rates in FS2004 in the spot view, with everything up to the max. But go to ANY 2d cockpit and it drops to below 10!!Anybody any ideas??ThanksMatt
September 19, 200916 yr Definitely should run better. What are your other specs? What video card and fsx settings are you using?I use the 186.18 release for my 295.
September 19, 200916 yr Author I run FS9. Same driver as you mentioned with 2x GTX 295 cards as one totalling just under 2gb. And I have 3 GB ram. I have tried lowest to highest setting via the sim and also using enhancer. Excellent frames in all views including the vc. But under 10 in the 2D. Very annoying.

Maybe you can overclock the system a bit.Does seem like something is wrongs. You should get a better frame rate. What settings are you using in FSX? Maybe you have some sliders to high.

I do not see the need to overclock a $3000US PC to be honest. I will try send it back and get a trusted spec from them that a good friend has. I do not use FSX, only FS9. The frames are OK when in the 2d panel when NOT in fullscreen mode. But nobody like to use anything other than fullscreen.Just really strange!Matt
September 19, 200916 yr Your stock CPU is not fast enough to handle the demand FSX places upon it and maintain fluid framerates. It's a fact of life that is irrelevant of how much you spent on your hardware. You *need* to overclock to get the most out of FSX.
September 20, 200916 yr I have a similar issue, slow frame rates in 2D panel but pressing W to bring up the basics fixes it back to the good frame rates in all the other views.Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, 2 x 9800GT in SLI, FS9, DX10

What monitor are you using?? Are the frame rates in the 2d as low as 10?
September 20, 200916 yr very annoying, im using a laptop...its a dell. Yeah frames are in the region of 10, have you tried any other drivers? I have 179.24
September 20, 200916 yr Author very annoying, im using a laptop...its a dell. Yeah frames are in the region of 10, have you tried any other drivers? I have 179.24I have a desktop with 2 x GTX 295 cards, and am using 186.18 on my new rig, which is going back to the maker tomorrow. Totally bemused as to what is going on. So will buy a setup identical to Ed's which I know works. I have been using till I bought this rig a brill Rock HD widescreen lap top woth No problems. Selling it now. It still takes some beating performance wise in FS9!! We both gave 2 graphic cards running. I wonder if that is where the problem is....Matt
September 20, 200916 yr We both gave 2 graphic cards running. I wonder if that is where the problem is....McCrash gave you a very good advice: Try using only one 295 card. Two will not help FS9 anyway.Change the settings on your card so it will run as two independent card. It should be possible to do that in the nVIDIA control panel. I used a twin GPU nVIDIA card a couple of years ago and didn't run them as one (SLI) card. Worht trying.
September 20, 200916 yr Just disabled SLI, tried in FS9 and its a bit better. Locked on 20fps it varies between 12 and 16 mostly.
