September 27, 200916 yr I took the plunge and bought the Xtreme Prototypes Learjet 20 series for FSX.On first impressions the add-on doesn't have a lot going for it; In FSX, The VC is remininscent of an 'FS9 average' VC at best. Texturing is often poor and some areas such as the yokes and side panels of the cockpit are worse than poor.Exterior model isn't inspiring and could definately be mistaken for freeware.BUT ................... some other things to note are; Sounds are quite nice (Except the default AP cancel noise!), Gauges are quite clear and easy to read, I quite like the steel switches. The Autopilot mode controls are all compatible with FSUIPC standard FSX offsets, which means they all work perfectly with my Go Flight hardware. That's a plus point that Captain Sim haven't achieved in a single product yet.Back on the bad bits ; flight model is unconvincing and remininscent of the 'defaults' (the Learjet predictably). I increased the 'Pitch Stability' by 100% in the [Flight Tuning] section of the aircraft.cfg, and decreased the 'Elevator Effectiveness' by 25%...... this balanced the plane out nicely and it felt a lot nicer on the 2nd circuit. This plane DOES achieve an 'old feeling' and despite the VC's shortcomings, it is quite immersive. Also to be noted is that it is VERY frame rate friendly. Systems coverage seems to be reasonably well covered. (There aren't many systems on this vintage but those that are appear well represented).Where did Xtreme Prototypes go wrong ?I suspect just in the fact that they completely overhyped a very average, but reasonably enjoyable FSX add-on, describing it as state of the art and cutting edge (it's neither) in their advertising. The aircraft is also 10 euros / 15 dollars overpriced in my honest opinion. The given quality does not reflect a 40 dollar price tag. Uh uh.But, all things considered, I am quite enjoying it - mainly because we wait so long for biz jets to come along for FSX, and to agree. It is a nice, simple change to flying the Flight 1 Pilatus PC-12 and Cessna Mustang, but be warned it is not in the same league as those add-ons. It feels closer to the older generation Eaglesoft Biz Jets, like the Hawker and the CII or CJ1 ..... In many areas it isn't as good as those add-ons, but it is a heck of a lot easier on the frames in FSX than they were!A mixed bag and far from being an instant classic - but strangely I don't regret buying it.Regards,Davido Barchetta.
September 27, 200916 yr I have bought it too. And my first feelings are better. It is far far away from any freeware aircraft i know or from early Eaglesofts bizzjets. I wish freeware aircrafts could be so good :( VC looks little cartoonish for the first view but it is very crisp, practical, nighlightning is sweet and gauges are nicely smooth (except HSI Course tracking needle).I have no need to make any changes to the flight dynamics. It flows nicely in the air and for handflying it is challenging and sensitive on the rudder action, it is not rolling like a train on railroads. I am only missing icing visual and flight dynamics effects, which are the standards today and which could be so cool on this vintage jet.Yes , it is a little overpriced, and maybe it is that thing in which Xtreme Prototypes went wrong. These are my two cents :(Pavel

I had to pay almost all my attention during flight to hold the altitude.Pavel
September 28, 200916 yr Heh heh ....so like I said! :( Flight dynamics are definately based on defaults, but yes, I too am (quite) enjoying this new jet on the scene.Davido.
September 28, 200916 yr HelloDoes this Lear have reflective windows in the VC ?.It is starting to tick the boxes ... Goflight Compatability... Nice nightlighting ect. Also are the buttons around the default GPS 3D or could I drop another gauge in there?
September 30, 200916 yr Hi -I'm on a work trip at the moment, so don't have access to FSX, but from memory, yes I'm almost sure it has some reflection textures in the glass. The buttons are not 3D around the GPS unit AFAIK - they are odd as they look like white dials but are indeed regular buttons. One really annoying thing with the GPS that is in there, is that you cannot operate the default (+) or (-) click spots, that are sometimes required. you have to get the pop up open (which is the completely standard default GPS500) to use these click spots.Replacing the default GPS is on my to-do list too. I have the RXP 430 WAAS but this will not be a great size for the hole that the default unit will leave - I'd imagine the RXP 530 will be a better fit.Ground handling seems a little poor in this plane. It can be hard to keep track on the take-off run and suddenly nose wheel inputs become very sensitive! But the VC is actually a grower - I do enjoy flying this plane although overall it is a little rough around the edges as a product, and IS overpriced.
