September 29, 200916 yr At the outset I would just like to congratulate PMDG on the JS 41 which is a hugely enjoyable aircraft to fly and a great addition to any flight sim enthusiasts hanger. However, I am encountering the following problem. When the aircraft is first loaded up the propellers appear in the unfeathered position. This is nice and handy. Then, after having completed cockpit preparation and pre start checks, the propellers will have invariably returned to a feathered position. Obviously this will inhibit engine start up so I attempt to unfeather the propellers by pulling the power levers into full reverse position and flicking the unfeather switch in both the left and right directions. I then monitor the propellers from an outside view but no matter how long I wait, or how many times I flick the unfeather switch, the propellers do not appear to respond and remain feathered. Can anyone advise as to the problem? Many thanks in advance.John
September 29, 200916 yr If the unfeather pumps have power, they will take about 2 min to unfeather in the real plane. I think it is speeded up a little in the sim but not much.Maybe check advanced animations in FSX (guessing here). Dan Downs KCRP

September 30, 200916 yr I didn't see any reference to inserting the "Start Locks" so there is nothing to hold them in the un-feathered position. After you flipped both left and right unfeather pumps wait 10 seconds and then reposition the throttle back to Ground Idle to insert the locks. (hit F1) Start both engines giving each time to stabilize. Next you need to REMOVE the Start Locks one at a time or the props can't be computer adjusted in flight. Pull back the LEFT throttle slowly all the way back and then hit F1, then do the same with the RIGHT throttle remembering to hit F1 after the full pull back position. You will hear "START LOCKS REMOVED" on the second throttle being pulled back. October 4, 200916 yr Many thanks for the prompt replies. It seems that when I load up my JS41 it loads with the engines in the process of shutting down. As such, each time I load the aircraft i pull the power levers to reverse in order to engage the start locks. This keeps the proppellors in an unfeathered position enabling a normal engine start. Consequently, I do not now need to use the unfeather switch to enable start up.I guess you could say that I have gotten around the problem rather than getting to the bottom of it!Many thanks to all who replied.John TK
