Frames good except for in cockpit view

Featured Replies

After doing all of Nick N's tweaks for the OS and FS9 and nhancer I have my system running pretty good (well for a 4year old P4 2.4 ghz Gateway E4100 machine can).4 GB memory (3.3 GB recognized by Win XP 32bit) - Nvidia Geforce 7600GS 512 mb video cardIn chase (outside) view I can get up to 30 fps (locked at 30) flying around and at regular sized airports. Some larger ones and payware ones it will drop as one would expect but not terribly low.My only problem now seems to be in cockpit view (2d) that I can get 30fps in outside view but switch to 2d cockpit view and my fps is almost always below 10.This holds true for any downloaded aircraft from avsim etc, payware aircraft or even default stock fs9 aircraft. Is there some setting that would increase the resolution or display characteristics of the 2d panel? I don't remember changing anything - settings or fs9.cfg that would do this.Any suggestions?ThanksPaul.

Anyone?

Paul

I'll reply with my experience with this issue. I had frame rates drop down to around 20-22 fps (from the normal 30+ fps) especially at airports when using the 2D cockpit. If I turned off the 2D cockpit, my frame rates would return to normal even at airports. So I decided against all convention to remove the line PanelAsTexture=0 to see what would happen. My frame rates returned to normal with the 2D cockpit view. I admit the cockpit is not as clear with the line removed, but my frame rates do not drop with the view. I know that adding this line is supposed to increase your frame rates in the 2D cockpit view, but for me, it decreased it.I have an Athlon X2 4800+ @2.67Ghz along with an 8800GT card.

I didn't have that line in my config file. I will try putting it in and see what happens.I'll let you know.Thanks.Paul

You mentioned you're not sure if you changed anything in your cfg. Why not try to rename your current one and let FS build a new one, just incase.

haha I change my fs9.cfg all the time - yet I do know what I'm doing.I did delete my .cfg file and let fs9 rebuild a new one. It did correct the problem BUT even after putting all my other tweaks back in, it looked the same as before so I still don't know what it was that caused the fps do go down only in 2d cockpit view.Things that make you go hhhmmmmmmm.Paul.
