October 2, 200916 yr I am hoping to do the Overnighter #3 tomorrow from UK to Japan in the MD11F. This will be the first time that I will be flying in Russian airspace and thus the first time I will need to maintain a flight level in metres. The most complex phases of the flight will be done in ft so I will set the aircraft up for ft not m. Is there a way to display the altitude on the PFD in metres for the Russian phase? I would have a look for myself but am still waiting for the cpu waterblock that the posty failed to deliver because he is on strike. The last one cracked and emptied half the rad on the gpu!!!!!!I have spent 5 min flicking through the manual but cannot put my finger on it. Justin Paull

October 2, 200916 yr to be extremely accurate you must have hard to hear controllers try and explain directions in the most broken english with the most static filled transmissions
October 8, 200916 yr I have flown yesterday from UUDD to ULLI (online over IVAO network, in a fully controlled airspace), using the "meters" button on the MCP.Anyway, I still haven't figured out how to set meter flight levels in the CDU INIT page.I had to use the RVSM conversion table, setting a feet flight level on the CDU (31.500ft), and using the altitude selector set to meters (9.600m).Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ciao! Rosario Manzo, IT
October 8, 200916 yr Author Rosario,I dont think you can get metres into the CDU, I thought that I could change it within the airliner options in the PMDG menu. I guess we are going to have to plan as best we can in feet and swich over to Metres when airborn. Justin Paull
October 9, 200916 yr Here's what I have on Russian and Chinese metric RVSM. I don't know if it will be of any help to you.http://users.frii.com/strider/Metric/This is the last info I have...there is some interesting info regarding the entry/exit waypoints? Don't know if it's usefull to you...but here it is. There are some conversion tables included...don't know if you can enter the converted metric numbers within the FMC's?Anywho, best I can do for ya.
