October 8, 200916 yr Hey everyone...hope that this is an easy question. I just installed John Loney's KVNY and found a reference to a terminals.bgl file. It's called an "FS9 Default scenery object" by John and yet I don't see any terminals.bgl listed in the FS9 default install. Does anyone know which library it is really referencing or am I missing something in my default FS9 install? Please advise and thanks!MarkFrom the KVNY Readme...FS9 Default scenery objectsterminals.bgl
October 8, 200916 yr Mark,I know 2 things for sure.1) there is no file named terminals.bgl in the default FS9.2) John replies to e-mails pretty quickly.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
October 8, 200916 yr Author Thanks Joe...I thought about sending him an email but didn't want to bug him. Figured that someone here would have run across this little wrinkle/typo. I'll send him an email...he probably gets hundreds...Mark
October 9, 200916 yr Author Well, I tried John's email from his web site and it's no longer valid. So if no one here knows the answer then I guess I'm out in the cold :)Mark
October 9, 200916 yr Commercial Member I'm not sure what's up with "terminals.bgl" but most of the default terminals are in ob9namw1.BGL for that area. Maybe that's what he's referring to as "terminals.bgl"?Jim
October 9, 200916 yr Sorry to hear you cannot communicate with him, hope he is OK.John is a great guy and a prolific addon creator. As with most of his scenery packs, this one includes several screenshots.I would compare what you see in the sim with those shots, and if it looks the same you are OK.One thing about John's work to be aware of, he will at times modify the scenery object libraries that he has created and re-release them under the same name. This package is a good example. It contains a scenery object library named loneys signs_2.bgl. I compared it with the version I already have installed. The version I have installed contains objects not included in the Van Nuys version. If I were to replace what I have with the KVNY version I would lose signs, probably at some other airport. If in doubt, best to DL his object libraries from his site, he will probably have the most up to date versions there. And also look at the list in the readme and make sure you have all those object libraries to get the full benefit of John's work.John, if you read this, hope you're OK and thanks for all you have given to the sim community.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
October 10, 200916 yr Mark,I got a heads up from David "Opa" Marshall on your situation with my KVNY scenery. I apologize for the typo. The readme should have read 'default_terminals_ss.bgl' from the default terminals compile by Sidney Shwartz.I'm not sure if it was a late night where I had tunnel vision or what. Sorry for the inconvenience. BTW - My email address from the website is working now. I did have a bit of a problem there. However, as with everyone, I welcome the emails and I am glad to help wherever I can concerning my sceneries. I'm at [email protected], just in case the website give anyone any problems again. To Joe and Jim, for some multiple reasons, I had to take a break from scenery design, but I plan to get back into it very soon. I am doing well for an considering and thanks for the concern, I really appreciate it.Everyone take care and I'll be back out there soon.John
