October 12, 200916 yr I am still having this problem. I fly to the last waypoint and RC vector me to line up with the runway. They give me a altitude of 1900 until established on the Localizer. When i'm about 5 miles out I turn on the APP and freq is on NAV1 and on NAV. I never get pulled down. I'm too high and have to do a go around and finaly do a visual approach and thats is a hard landing. My IAS is about 145 flaps down to 45. Any input will be very helpful.Eddie

October 12, 200916 yr Since you posted on the flightsim FS9 forum as well, that's where I carried on my suggestions and others contributed technique suggestions as well. I did not see what airport and runway you are landing on so we could look at the approach plate. You did state that it is a downwind approach. You also stated that you turned on APP while downwind (outbound) which is incorrect (also noted by Bill L.) since you will experience reverse sensing. The outer marker is at or below the GS indication. You can not turn on APP until you are close to inbound intercept. What I do is use heading control (from taking vectors) until the ILS (inbound) indicator starts moving and quickly turn the heading indicator to the inbound course to start the turn. I turn on if necessary VOR/LOC if the GS is way above and as it starts descending turn on APP to capture the GS if everything appears OK.See the other thread regarding GS and LOC false indications where dual localizers on the same frequency are used in FS on each end of the same runway, very common at large airports, and how to fix the error for FS scenery.
