October 20, 200916 yr I checked all the different STARS in various programs and have troubles to understand them. The airport Frankfurt,Germany airport was selected with the following results :1) The program FSBuild show the following STARS ( for Frankfurt arrival ) Epin 2W , Edin 25 , Etar 25 , Ged 1W , Ged 25 , PSA 1W , PSA 25, Rudu 1W2) The Angle of Attack Video ( San Fran to Frankfurt ) indicates the following STARS in the FMC: Ged 2W , Ged 3W, Osma 2W, Osma 3E, PSA 3E , PSA 3W, Roli 1E, Roli 1W3) The airport chart of Navigraph nDac 3 show different STARS again. My question is why that difference and above all where can I obtain a complete list of all theSTARS for a Frankfurt Arrival. Also: how can I get what is called an approach chart and what is the difference to a STAR ?Thanks for you explanationsRobi77
October 20, 200916 yr Commercial Member SIDS & STARS change all the time, I fly 99% online so keeping my charts up to date makes life a lot simpler. It only costs 2 credits to update a airport with navigraph, you don't have to do it every month. If you don't fly online then it doesn't really matter how old your charts are as long as the frequency's are current.Your STAR chart is your 'Arrival route' your 'Approach chart' is what you use to plan your approach, eg ILS, VOR, Visual etc Oh yeah, Sign your 'full' name here or your post will be deleted...Rob Prest Rob Prest
October 20, 200916 yr My favorite site for European charts is Eurocontrol at: http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/publicuser/...ic/pu/login.jsp (registration is free)The difference between a STAR and an approach is that the STAR (arrival) routes from enroute to the terminal area and the approach is used for landing, see also: http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/SIDSTARSThe European convention for naming SIDSTARS is quite different from the US, with which I am familiar, but if you study the charts you will see a pattern. I should also note that the FSBuild data needs updating just like your navdata and SIDSTAR data for the PMDG simulation. In practice, I only use FSBuild for the enroute route and add the departures, arrivals and approaches once within the simulation to ensure I have the latest correct information. Dan Downs KCRP
