October 24, 200916 yr I've searched the forums and found out that the only way to get engines to start if they don't in the first place is to lock fps at 25 or 30. Has there been any other fixes that have been discovered? Very strange that this problem was never patched. Engine starts works perfectly at 30fps, but having to go limit fps just for engine start then set it back every time really takes away from the realism and joy of the plane. Thanks ahead of time. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |

January 9, 201016 yr Well I'm interested...why not share please.I find that if I set the engine power scalar in the aircraft.cfg to 0.95 or above I can restart engines. This in FSX. Matt Smith MSFS 2024

Does it affect the flight dynamics? - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
January 19, 201016 yr What does that parameter actually do? Does it affect the flight dynamics? It will give the engines a little more power. Unless I'm remembering this wrong, the power scalar for the R4D is .97, so this mod will make the pax/cargo versions on par with that version. A little loss of reality but that's a tradeoff for being able to restart the engines (or start from cold & dark).Personally I start with the engines running so I use the normal power scalar on my pax/cargo versions. January 19, 201016 yr I posted this up in the pinned topic under Engine Start above, but will repost it here for you folks. I found the answer that won't affect the aircraft's performance, and is an easy, inobtrusive fix. This is copied from my post above:Find the [piston_engine] section in the aircraft.cfg.A little over halfway down, find the entry: "normalized_starter_torque=0.6"Change that value from 0.6 to 1.5.You now have enough rpms when engaging the starter to get the machine started.Hope that helps those that have been stuck on this one. If that doesn't quite work, adjust the torque value UPWARDS until it does.
